authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

ICE raided a workplace in my district today. Two unmarked vans stole away an unknown number of workers from Bro-Tex.

Rapid responders were in force. There was clash. Pepper spray.

All the folks I spoke to at the scene were shook but resolve was fierce.

No quarter for ICE in Saint Paul.

This is basically making it so trans people who were adopted and had their birth records sealed cannot obtain a passport at all. This will also ensnare cis people who were adopted and have clerical errors on their records or are suspected of being trans.

how tf am i supposed to get an old birth cert if it was fucking sealed by the state

Encouraging info from CM Chavez. My issue here is that the entire history of Big Tech is doing illegal things and daring people to stop them, which rarely happens. We need to say a robot can't drive AND provide a framework for strong penalties when the companies inevitably ignore that law.
My understanding is that state law requires a human driver.

According to MPR, Waymo hired lobbyists to explore the possibility of changing state laws to allow for the operation of autonomous vehicles.

I’d be supportive of an ordinance that requires a human to be physically present.

So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

I’m hearing a lot of despair and “what’s the point”-ing.

Here’s the point:

ONE less person kidnapped by ICE.

ONE more child vaccinated.

ONE grant reinstated.

ONE more PEPFAR treatment.

ONE more meal to a hungry kid.

ONE more person covered by Medicaid.

One life is ALWAYS worth resistance.

Your friendly neighborhood artist here, reminding you that today is a great day to take care of yourself and others by wearing a respirator mask when you are out and about. Show your concern for your fellow humans: Put your mask where your mouth is! 🫶😷

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

I am older than gender markers on passports! How do you regulate gender? By making it a form of government ID. It has nothing to do with state security, only regulation

Let’s see what “God-loving Catholics” the SCOTUS 6 really are.

Good time for @pontifexleoxiv.bsky.social to weigh in on our collective humanity & obligation to the poor, no?
#BREAKING: The Trump administration is asking #SCOTUS for an immediate “administrative” stay of a Rhode Island district judge’s order that is otherwise requiring it to resume the distribution of SNAP benefits from other funding sources no later than the end of today.

I think this bag is fake.

Hermes's flagship products are handsewn using a saddle stitch. A worker marks the leather using an awl and then threads two needles through from both sides.

This results in a tight stitch with no holes between the stitches. The holes here suggest the bag was machine sewn.

I would encourage trans folks especially, but LGBTQ+ folks more broadly, to understand:

We are going to *lose* (maybe even a lot) as cases move up to SCOTUS.

*and*

Every delay & pause, even temporary, is a win. And we will ultimately win.

Care for yourself. Care for community. Keep organizing.

You will protect yourself and you will also protect all the vulnerable people around you who are literally risking their lives to make their voices count

The only thing I need ppl to understand about Spanberger’s win in VA is that it was ENTIRELY due to Black women across Virginia endlessly and tirelessly endorsing her, advocating for her, and swinging whole communities for her.

I will take it personally if she fails them.

This is your reminder that every living thing in the world slows down during these next months. You’re not lazy cuz you’re doing less. It’s okay that the early darkness makes you tired (it’s supposed to).

there is no hierarchy of citizenship.

there are only citizens. All citizens are imbued with the same legal protections and rights in the U.S.

Some citizens born, some citizens are naturalized, both are fully and equally citizens.

the end.

It's not like we were born with an innate understanding of N95 masks and airborne transmission. Many of us put in the intellectual effort to understand it, starting in 2020. You don't need a medical degree to understand this stuff. It has been explained, and explained, and explained.

Thank you for saving lives and for putting people before the status quo. Every time you wear a mask, test before/after going to crowded events, and stay home when sick, you make a difference.
