Grossly irresponsible of the Times to have this ludicrous credulous spin as the top story the morning after a president who rules by fiat proclaims a totally specious emergency to militarize the capital - an editorial insult to our intelligence and our democracy.

He is so fucking GOOD at this, and makes me think about how unfairly maligned the word "communications" has become. "Communications" has largely come to mean "a corporation or politician blowing smoke up your ass." BUT! Talking to adults as adult w clear communication abt important things is GOOD!"
The 14th Street Busway has been a smashing success: faster commutes, fewer crashes, calmer streets.

So why is Eric Adams blocking a similar plan for 34th Street?

Senator Kristen Gillibrand appeared on Brian Lehrer, a major NYC radio show, and claimed mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani said “globalize the intifada” and that he may support “global jihad,” statements which are both acutely racist and provably untrue.

The Dem political establishment is not freaking out because of Mamdani’s modest policy proposals or even so much his identity as DemSoc.

They are freaking out because he is NOT compromised by involvement in networks of corruption like they are—and those networks are freaking out about losing power.

Kirsten Gillibrand on WNYC won’t endorse Mamdani. Said she doesn’t endorse NYC mayoral races (she endorsed Adams in 2021), and is waiting to see who runs on what line. What a fucking disgrace.

For those in NYC who participated in the #NoKings protest, I hope you will bring that same logic into the voting booth for Mayor and will not rank Cuomo.

Cuomo and Trump are cut from the same cloth.

Andrew Cuomo is afraid he'll lose, so his donors want you to fear me.

His SuperPAC just sent out a mailer that artificially lengthened and darkened my beard.

This is blatant Islamophobia—the kind of racism that explains why MAGA billionaires support his campaign.

I cannot grasp the mind that allows someone to say “This man assaulted women” and then, two months later, endorse him. Do you simply not have beliefs? Are your beliefs robotic restatements of what a majority of your friends are saying?

“They are bombing refugee camps. How can you support this?” the staffer recalled her saying with tears in her eyes.

“That’s all propaganda,” Fetterman replied.

As a Columbia alum, I can truthfully say I would not have applied to Columbia if this had been the case then.

If you are a high school senior currently choosing colleges, I urge you to choose another school.
In a first for the Ivy League school, Columbia's new officers have the same powers of warrantless search and arrest as any other police officer under New York law. The state law permits the officers to use "physical force and deadly physical force in making an arrest or preventing an escape."
Columbia University's new campus patrol officers appointed by New York Police Department
The 36 new special patrol officers announced last month by Columbia University were appointed by the New York Police Department and will be subject to the orders of the police commissioner, an arrangement confirmed by a Columbia spokesperson this week.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.
