Meanwhile, here's an example of the horrendous things found in Hillary Clinton's emails—the only story worth covering for any serious news outlet in 2016, apparently.

This email is also regarding a child who suffered abuse from a grown man.

It's a low bar but yes, easily surpassed in this instance and many others.
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Isaac Chotiner knocks on the open door.
Personally, I will be trying to avoid the notice of Joyce Carol Oates and Kendrick Lamar for the rest of my natural life
I need Joyce Carol Oates to be mean to me online so I can get my life together

This is not a surprise to anyone who was closely following this case. It *ought* to be, however, a moment to reflect upon the responsibility (or not) of media outlets that, deliberately or not, led folks to believe that a grant was a serious possibility (which it never was).

I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

"I would rather be an actual pawn. At least pawn sacrifices are calculated and achieve something. All this for a fucking meaningless vote."

This federal employee working without pay says THANK YOU FOR HOLDING THE LINE WITH US
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

Same and same. HOLD THE LINE
My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

@schumer.senate.gov @hakeemjefferson.bsky.social @kaine.senate.gov as I just told @warren.senate.gov and @edmarkey.bsky.social on the phone: as a fed employee working FULL TIME WITHOUT PAY for the past three weeks - don‘t you DARE. We are holding the line - if you back down now you've failed us all

I often have trouble in the winter discerning whether something in the dryer in an unheated part of my garage) is just cold or still damp.
I recently learned that humans don’t have the capacity to feel wetness - we can only infer it by using other sensory inputs like temperature and friction - and it has completely destroyed my brain because now every time I touch something wet my brain is like “BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW”

Best niche joke of the week candidate right here.
CHOTINER: So you asked for a Birkin bag?
KOKO: Yes. Possession Bag.
CHOTINER: And you had the funds to acquire this?
KOKO: No, Professor Purchase Koko Gorilla
CHOTINER: That doesn't sound like the funds were justifiable.

There is literally no other way to describe your father’s cousin in English thats accurate. Second cousin is not a culturally relevant term. “Aunt” is a class of person, not a single bond of relation. “Uncle” is a class of person, not a single bond of relation.
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

Raise your hand if you thought it was because female chickens are the ones that lay the eggs.
Just learned the difference between a croque monsieur and a croque madame is an egg and it’s named that because the egg looks like a ladies fancy hat. That’s when society worked, when we were all putting little hats on sandwiches.
