I've done some searching and couldn't find any starter packs for Welsh and Wales-based speculative fiction people. So, I thought I'd try my hand at creating one. If you'd like to be included, give me a nudge.

As in JL George's "Little Shade" which finds a person surviving their sister's death in a world-shattering pandemic only to be visited in isolation by a stray cat who helps remind them that there is still life, still things to do. It's heavy and difficult but is limned with hope

Short SFF Reading Update #quicksipreviews

Saros #4 (5 originals) from @fusionfragment.bsky.social

The theme of the issue is dystopia/post-apocalypse, and the stories do indeed show some grim futures dominated by inequality, exploitation, and desolation. Through it all, though, there is still hope

Seeing UK Labour try to claim Zohran Mamdani’s victory as a win for their political stances etc, is darkly funny, given that if he was British, he would have been hounded out of Labour asap, that not a single thing one his platform they would be onboard with.

The bitterly ironic transformation of the iconography of the poppy, from sombre reminder of the senseless futility of a war in which the British ruling class systematically ordered the wholesale slaughter of millions of working-class men, to 'War Christmas', says everything about the current crisis
That's it. Peak remembrancy shop window has been located.

This is an utterly nonsensical way to report the really relieving news that Plaid Cymru, a party which espouses all sorts of liberal values including trans rights, etc. (and which isn't even mentioned in this headline!!!) won the election by a 47% landslide, well ahead of Reform as well as Labour.
Amazing

800 words please on why this proves the Labour and Conservative strategy to primarily target Reform voters is working perfectly.
Caerphilly, Senedd constituency by-election result:

PC: 47.4% (+19.0)
REF: 36.0% (+34.2)
LAB: 11.0% (-34.9)
CON: 2.0% (-15.3)
GRN: 1.5% (+1.5)
LDEM: 1.5% (-1.2)
GWL: 0.3% (+0.3)
UKIP: 0.2% (+0.2)

Plaid Cymru GAIN from Labour.

Today on the Kickstarter we are back with Tej Turner, and a Christian religious site that might be a re-purposed pagan sanctuary:

We are up to 64% funded now. When we reach 67% we'll start talking about stretch goals.
