On 29th January 1996, "Threshold", the Star Trek: Voyager episode where Captain Janeway and Tom Paris turned into giant space newts and had babies first aired. Since it's #ThresholdDay we aim to answer a burning question: did Paris and Janeway fuck? If so, how did they fuck?

We are deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Magic legend Kai Budde. His achievements in the game and community go beyond what we could say in one post. Our thoughts go out to Kai's friends and family in this moment.

The process of research explained. This is my jam.
I wanted to know who designed an old board game I loved. I found out he made over fifty games he was never credited for, in a career spanning more than three decades.

Hello! Are you in the UK/Canada/Aus/NZ? Did you discover RPGs through any of the paperback-book games released in the mid-1980s (Fighting Fantasy RPG, Advanced FF, Maelstrom, Dragon Warriors, Tunnels & Trolls)? Can I ask you a couple of questions for an article? Please get in touch.

Dragonlance recruited a whole generation of young women into gaming, right alongside the work of Mercedes Lackey, Ann Rice, and Patricia McKillip.

I owe the often 50/50 gender parity at my TTRPG tables throughout junior high to a series of authors who successfully reached their audiences.

Today I learned “Norwegian Christian laws forbade citizens from conversing with and interacting with trolls, and in documents dating from 1274 to 1781, doing so would result in severe punishment” (source: Wikipedia), and I kinda think many people nowadays would be better off if this law was revived

Just got word from Steve Sullivan that Jean Rabe has passed.

She was the RPGA's fourth Network Coordinator, a position she held for almost a decade, but I personally know her best for her Dragons of a New Age trilogy (but she wrote *tons* of books).

Hold onto your butts, data nerds. I've been looking Evil Hat's distro performance — solely based on our distro invoicing that we do through Freshbooks; we don't invoice IPR there so they aren't represented in these data.

The TLDR:

2025 was the worst year for EH's distribution in the past 10 years.

One moment you're reading along about the Assyrian empire and the next you trip over a mention of "the world's first film in Babylonian" and then that's it, drop everything, let's go take a look.
The Poor Man of Nippur - World's first film in Babylonian
For information about studying Babylonian and Assyrian at University, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjktznUmOSg "The Poor Man of Nippur" is a c. 3,000 year-old comic folk tale in Babylonian language. The main manuscript is a clay tablet from 701 BC found at the site of Sultantepe, in South-East Turkey. Recounted by a third-party narrator, it tells the story of the three-fold revenge which Gimil-Ninurta wreaks on the local Mayor after the latter wrongs him. The film version of this ancient text is a creation of Cambridge Assyriology, and (as far as we know) the world's first film in Babylonian. The film was acted by Assyriology students and other members of the Cambridge Mesopotamian community. Shooting locations were in several Cambridge Colleges, King's Parade, The British Museum, Flag Fen Archaeological Park, and countryside near Grantchester.
