A (draft) preview of one of the sillier minigames in Veritable Tales, in case you missed it!

The noble could be describing a mythological creature, a dinosaur, a Pokémon... have fun with it!

Image Description Beasts Abroad: One player is an Arrogant Noble who has recently returned from abroad. The rest are the Hapless Artists commissioned by the Noble to depict the bizarre beasts encountered in faraway lands. They will need drawing materials. Unfortunately the Noble is a poor wordsmith. They describe a creature encountered on their travels as terribly as they can, whilst touting their own valour. Purple prose is encouraged: invoke the senses, cast aspertions and sprout allegories. Once the Noble is satisfied with their description the Artists present their works of art. Discuss, extol, flatter, then the player to their left becomes the noble. Repeat until everyone has played the arrogant noble. Then transfer your favourite drawings to the margins and write in the annals: "...STRANGE BEASTS WERE SIGHTED ABROAD."

Frequently wrong about themselves Sure, there are complex psychological issues at play, but surely people can at least be trusted to tell you about themselves, right? Unfortunately not. A particular AAA developer I know of once sent surveys to 1000 players asking them which game they had played the most, then compared it with the data of what they had actually played. Not a single one answered correctly. Zero out of one thousand players could remember their own habits enough to tell which game they’d played the most. Player answers were so consistently wildly wrong that the team involved thought that their data must have been corrupted. Upon validating that it was in fact accurate, they went back to the players and told them what their actual most played games were, and every single one said something along the lines of “OH! Right. Well, that makes sense”. When people tell you things they’re really telling you the stories they tell themselves about themselves, and those stories may not have anything at all to do with reality.
