Twenty years after the war, I walked sniper alley in Sarajevo haunted by images of civilians dashing between buildings for cover. I never imagined that some may have been shot by ‘sniper tourists’ who paid for a chance to kill them. My god!

In 2014 when the kidnapped Chibok girls made world headlines, Nigerian soldiers kidnapped 42 men from a village, baselessly accusing them of Boko Haram membership. The thing is, while all of this fuckery plays out, thousands of refugees in bad situations around the world are stuck in limbo with their files held by the US. This means their cases can’t be submitted to other countries which might actually consider accepting them www.nytimes.com/2025/10/15/u...

Please, I want to know how this works. He got Malaysian citizenship and now he's returned to Argentina to play for a local club but can't play yet because Fifa banned him for a year. So what's his visa situation? Because Malaysians aren't allowed dual nationality www.malaysiakini.com/read4free/75...

Police overreach in Malaysian schools. This new level of surveillance is liable to negatively impact LGBTQ+ students. Already they "caught" students "carrying playing cards" which is a bit of a distance away from the supposed goal of violence prevention www.malaysiakini.com/read4free/75...

My husband had a vivid dream the other night that he had a cat called Tuna and he loved it so much. I am delighted for him because he doesn't usually have nice dreams, he only got over his fear of cats when we got together, and Tuna is an excellent name

In Malta people just leave their bin bags in the street overnight and it’s gross and encourages cockroaches. I get up earlier than I’d like just to take our rubbish out in time for the bin lorry and thereby minimise our contribution to the problem
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Yes it has its flaws (don’t even start me), but we definitely need a LOT more awareness and discussion about what happens if the UN goes bankrupt. I’m terrified for example of how this would impact refugees in Malaysia news.un.org/en/story/202...

All the way to Pannir’s execution, Singapore chose callous and inhumane bureaucracy. @kirstenhan.com writes of a remarkable young man with so much potential and love, and a family who loved him fiercely in return. Wishing them all the strength in the world now www.wethecitizens.net/goodbye-pann...
Goodbye, Pannir
Singapore wanted the world to see Pannir as nothing more than a drug trafficker. But Pannir showed us all that he was so, so much more.

A fascinating and enraging scandal. What the article neglects to mention is that it’s normally very difficult to obtain Malaysian citizenship - even for people with Malaysian mothers. But here ‘discretion’ was gleefully used, while the government pretends that the system is fair and reasonable

No more. Not in my name.
There was no reason for Datch to die, except that powerful people decided it would be so.
