Abuser mentality - since we are weak and being hurt, we should stop fighting back because we're just making it harder on ourselves.

Russians really do not understand that their actions and words don't match - they think they're being perfectly consistent. Their peace is our surrender.
A simple question you need to ask everyone confused about whether Russians maybe “want peace” with Ukraine: why does Russia KEEP committing atrocities against Ukrainians then?

Surely it's harder to make peace with someone if you're convincing them DAILY that you're still trying to genocide them?

The TACO cycle:

Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank.

So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.

All it takes for Trump to change his mind is for some journalist to ask him whether he really means it.

The problem with Trump is that journalists have incredible policy formation power now that a single leading question can give him an idea, which then becomes policy instantly in a live interview
It is very naive to think that the tensions over Greenland have been reduced, along with the threat it represents, after Trump's speech.

Latching on to a single phrase, glossing over the rest of it, is sticking ones head in the sand.

Hoping it just goes over isn't a strategy.

Wondering who is with her? That’s European far right leader, George Simion, the man backed by Putin to take control of Romania’s government.

Meeting with AIPAC and getting rejected is almost as bad as taking AIPAC money in the first place.
New from @jewishinsider.com this morning that Daniel Biss had sought AIPAC support in April 2025, citing a source

Niles Mayor George Alpogianis also told JI that customers at his restaurant had discussed Biss seeking AIPAC backing in the spring

Biss' campaign is denying the report:

I'm honestly less mad at the President, who is clearly not well, that I am at his outriders and enablers.

They see messages like this and then, with straight faces, go on television or write op-eds retroactively constructing grand strategy justifications.

Pathetic.

This is a very good point. The November 2025 US National Security Strategy never mentions the Arctic at all. The idea that it's a genuine security priority for the Trump administration is not credible.

Today would be a great day for CNAS, CSIS, Brookings, Atlantic Council, RAND, IDA, CNA, & every veterans’ advocacy group to say an attack on NATO over Greenland would be a crime under US and international law and it would shatter American military capacity for generations.

They won’t say a word.

This is key point - why is UK falling over itself to gain US “security guarantees” for Ukraine?

Given threats to Greenland, what are they worth? How many treaty commitments would US breach if it seized by force or coercion?

Answer is UK and France shirking responsibilities for defence of Europe
What European leaders have been most nervous about is the US pulling back on NATO or Ukraine… but how can Europe trust the US will come to its defense if its trying to seize territory from a NATO country. They can’t. So why cave to keep a security commitment that is not real. 6/
