Jeffrey Epstein, taking time out of running the largest global child sex trafficking operation in human history to explain to his friend Prof. Larry Summers of Harvard, the former Treasury Secretary of the United States, that women have agency.
My favourite part of the Bad Bunny show was when he turned to the camera and said he's the exact same kind of communist I am.

2028:

"For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the south coast of Florida, as we can potentially achieve this in less than 5 years, whereas the Moon would take 10+ years."
SpaceX shifts focus from something that it will never do on Mars to something it will never do on the Moon.

No. 10 communications were being directed!?
Tim Allan, Keir Starmer’s director of communications, has just quit his Downing Street role:

“I have decided to stand down to allow a new No 10 team to be built. I wish the PM and his team every success."

Brave take but I actually think he's a pretty Good Bunny.

Farage: "To help me guide Reform I need someone ready to hit the ground on day one with incredibly far-right populist nonsense policies on immigration and the worst HR instincts in the history of the human race."

McSweeney: "So, when do I start?"

Telling the FT to 'fuck off' is starting beef with Kendrick Lamar for people who don't know who Kendrick or what beef is.

$12 trillion? So, four times Russian nominal GDP?

Did they discover unobtainium deposits in Sochi?

Maybe a tesseract hiding in the Urals?

Why is everything so stupid?
⚡️Zelensky says Russia presented $12 trillion economic plan to US, called 'Dmitriev package.'

President Volodymyr Zelensky described it as a proposed framework for large-scale U.S.-Russia economic cooperation.
Zelensky warns of 'risk' US, Russia could strike bilateral deals on Ukraine without Kyiv
"We clearly state that Ukraine will not support even potential agreements about us without us," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

This is 100% the right take.

Normal people are not "effortlessly" charming and witty when something disruptive happens while they are giving a live speech in front of TV cameras.

Normal people are awkward as fuck public speaking, and the robotic voice politicians adopt is the best they can do.
(seen a bunch of people sharing this/talking in general about how "normal" Mamdani is but imo this doesn't show a normal person, but an *exceptionally* skilled communicator - a normal person wouldn't react like that to having a speech interrupted by a child! give him his due!)
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

"It's bad but not as bad as some people are saying, and that's the real problem" ticks so many pundit boxes.

1. Contrarian ""nuanced"" take;

2. Punching left;

3. Defends evil without actually defending it, ensuring you're still invited to give keynotes at Evil Corp Dinners but also to MET Gala.
This happens with*everything* now. No matter how grave the crime or one-dimensional the injustice, after four days the hivemind of American punditry decides that the Real Story is how the people upset about it are the real villains.

Every time my Bluesky feed refreshes, am I expecting a breaking FT story revealing McSweeney and Mandelson talked Starmer into convert all the UK's money to Bitcoin last month?

No.

Am I nervous it will appear anyway?

More than I should be.

If this continues the most obnoxiously tedious person you know is in very real danger of having to find a second thing to talk about.

(This was a joke, they're just going to pivot to AI).
Please, my magic bean, it is very sick

Good news everyone, Michael Tracey has carefully reviewed the evidence and concluded that Ghislaine Maxwell did nothing wrong.

The case against Maxwell may have convinced a jury of her peers, but not the genius who thought a NATO attack on Russia was imminent because he saw a Humvee in Poland.

"Norms of age of consent shifted"

Excuse me? He wasn't raping 15 year olds as part of a marriage arranged by his local fieflord in 1543.

I swear to fucking god pundits you don't actually have to do a contrarian "well actually" on child sex trafficking. You can just choose not to do that.

Trump, standing in front of a chart depicting the angelic hierarchy as described by Pseudo-Dionysius and explaining that while Angels, Archangels and Principalities can be executed in the street by masked paramilitary goons, procedure requires Dominions and Seraphim be given warning shots.
Trump on Alex Pretti and Renee Good: "He was not an angel and she was not an angel. You know, you look at some tapes."

I hope it goes without saying that the best way for the UK to prevent a Prime Minister Farage is for Labour to govern well, not for everyone to just keep quiet about how much they're fucking up in the hopes the country doesn't notice.

Keir Starmer is what your mother is referring to when she tells you, "no, we have Mark Carney at home."
February 5, 2026 at 9:38 AM
So, Starmer replaced Karen Pierce, a veteran diplomat respected by everyone who has ever met and worked with her, with a heavily compromised Epstein stooge who thought he could do the UK Ambassador job on weekends and via Zoom while serving as Chancellor of Oxford.

"I'm going to kill people, Leo."

Marge Simspson voice: "The secret ingredient is shame!"
One by one, Europeans mentioned in the Epstein files who still hold political office are beginning to resign or are being forced out of office.

Meanwhile, ruled by an administration almost entirely made up of Epstein associates, the US carries on as if nothing really happened.

Not a big sports guy, but I've always understood that you're supposed to support your team through thick and thin. Irrespetive of performance. Unconditional loyalty is a virtue. Changing allegiances is treachery.

... which is why we probably shouldn't write about politics as if it were football.
February 4, 2026 at 10:27 AM
My signature actively decreases the value of your book because I feel like I'm not famous enough to just sign the thing, and so try to write something funny, but I ran out of good jokes over a year ago.
Sigh.

The reason that recent signed books are not very valuable is because in America, there are more people trying to make a profit on signatures than there are people who appreciate them.

Someday, if you keep it in perfect condition, your newly signed book will be worth... the jacket price.

The sun rose this morning, which was still somehow more surprising to me than learning that neo-nazi Nick Fuentes just argued that Epstein Island wasn't ACTUALLY paedophilia because (he thinks) the girls were 14-17.

A flawless Shibboleth for the worst people on earth.
February 4, 2026 at 7:45 AM
No, I think Helen is absolutely spot on. All across America, high school seniors are considering their college options according to three criteria:

1) Wokeness coefficient, a very real thing kids care about;

2) The Covid lockdown rolled out 5 years ago, when the students were 12; &

3) Asianness.
Yes, people are going to LSU to "flee Asian educational norms." Sure.

What appearing in the Epstein Files taught me, a results focused thought leader with a proven record of delivering excellence managing multifunctional teams across diverse vectors, about navigating conflict in agentic adjacent media environments to achieve success for stakeholders in B2B sales.

I'm sorry but it's very funny to me that the legislature of a G7/P5 country of 70 million is currently drafting the "Fuck This One Guy in Particular Act of 2026."

Also, imagine tolerating a system of privilege so entrenched you need to rewrite centuries-old rules just to get at one douchebag.
