I always figured this was uncontroversial, but why bother listening to folks who have been doing the work for years? It's far better to ignore any experience and pretend that no one has ever engaged in protests before. (/s)
With all due respect, there’s an established discipline among activists that forbids communication with even the press as an individual, far less law enforcement. This in itself is a major and dangerous breach already, it’s not hypothetical.

Richest man in Georgia pushes anti trans, anti gay legislation. Richest man in Hungary is close to homophobe Viktor Orban. Weird how these keep getting presented as organic views springing endogenously from the working class
Richest man in England endorses “populist” views just like the richest man in America. Weirdest populism I’ve ever seen

I do not understand what makes people so confident that there's no boogeyman under the bed when the boogeyman is currently trying to murder his neighbors and take their house.

Of course there was blackmail. Of course some of his money (good chink prolly) was Russian money laundering.
Couple getting your first few hundred million in that way with then trading off the incredible insider information your network of “friends” sends to you, and there’s no huge mystery to solve as to Epstein’s wealth.

He didn’t need to blackmail. Real soft power is subtler than that.

It is a real indicator of where we are at in this moment that when everyone shows up and says "This is a Nazi bar, and we don't like Nazis" the response is "Well they *do* like a drink, and they are quite sad, and who are we to not take their money and give them a place to hang out?"

I definitely need the new Toyota Hilux Champ with its hydraulic dump bed which is definitely used for dumping soil and gravel and other things and definitely not other Hilux things that might also benefit from a hydraulic-actuated platform. Just things like Mulch, Loam, Rocks, Sand, you know… MLRS

People are really missing that the reason why MAGA can retain and grow its people is because of their well funded reality tunnel.

Right now negative polarization is helping boost Democrats, this isn’t an infinite resource. You need to also build up the infrastructure to maintain and grow your base

Another way of silencing Ukrainians on the international stage is to kill their voice and/or careers.

Athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych was disqualified from competing at the Olympics for wearing a helmet with pictures of fellow Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia.

Ukrainian luger Olena Smaga supported Heraskevych. After one of her runs, she showed her hand with the words written on it: "Remembrance is not a violation."

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also supported Ukraine’s Olympic team, which reminds the world about athletes killed by Russia.

Funniest story from Ukraine's incursion into Kursk was that local people thought it was Americans that was invading. Ukrainian response to them was "Why would you think American soldiers can speak Russian?" and they had no response to that

My question is, how do you know what you read is accurate/contains the relevant details without reading the source text anyway?
There’s stuff that, if it gets good enough (and in some of these specialized cases it’s a lot closer), there’s genuine value added by having a machine that can generate a summary in one minute of stuff it would take me five hours to read (and I’d do a bad job of it anyway).

I know people are clowning on this, but as a working journalist, this is absolutely true. We've been complaining for years that liberals are never willing to put money where their mouth is and compete with the right wing media ecosystem.

This is not a criticism of Sky or Will, but I do find it kind of weird that I have encountered maybe a hundredth of this kind of user, despite moving in the same circles and being a relatively big account, by BSky standards. It just feels very random.
it is not feasible, let alone reasonable, to tell new users to be like "Hi, welcome to bluesky! you are in grave danger from Those Users. first you gotta IMMEDIATELY subscribe to these blocklists. no the other ones. then if you see someone coming through the blocks to talk shit, ITS ON SIGHT."
Yeah, it’s insanely corrosive to both individual users like you and to site health as a whole! This shit does not happen on healthy, well-moderated sites!

The US disappeared as an aid donor to Ukraine in 2025 as Europe filled the gap.

European support rose 67%, ensuring a stable amount of military and humanitarian aid as Ukraine held back the Russian threat.

Actions matter more than words. Thank you, Europe, for your actions.💙💛
