This strikes me as just a way to let LLM in the door over at SFWA. You do not a survey to craft a no generative AI policy.
SFWA is doing a survey on LLM use in the industry. You don't need to be a member to submit. Writers/artists/humans need all the advocates we can get, and I hope we can encourage SFWA to take a strong stance. www.sfwa.org/sfwa-survey-...

Yes. And translators, badly paid, have been trying to make people aware of this, but they have only a small platform. Need writers and readers to be aware and speak out.

Whenever I post about this I get snarky people replying "Who cares? What difference does it make." Well, the whole phenomenon of people not understanding what makes a breed and how rare they are is exactly what enables unethical backyard breeders to do what they do.
I would like to articulate one of the BIGGEST misconceptions about cat breed genetics by talking about the NEBELUNG!
An extremely rare breed with only SIX(6) in the whole US, and no breeders, yet one that thousands of folk online are convinced they own.
Your cat is NOT any breed, and that's okay.

Who do you choose to acknowledge? Who do you leave out? Are you not acknowledging *anybody*? That speaks volumes about you, what kind of artists your peers can expect your to be. Whether you *can* be a peer.

At SNL I worked with artists who made the funniest, stupidest graphics in no time flat. Some of my biggest jokes would have been impossible without these geniuses building an insane image or finding the perfect real-life photo of a politician. Sucks that their work is being pushed aside for slop.
