Considering the goal of public health leaders has been to make COVID endemic, this would be a great time for them to explain why that's a good thing.

Were they just trying to get it everywhere so they could use that as an excuse for failing to do anything, or is there some sort of plan here?

But think of all that sweet, sweet defence spending and AI that we're getting!
The cost of living is continuing its rise as a top issue, named by two-thirds of Canadians, the highest level this year.

The economy and healthcare follow, but affordability remains the political lens.

Commenters: "What was the alternative to voting for Carney?"

Me: "Here's a thread answering that and explaining why it's a terrible way to look at the election."

"Among those with a positive view of Mark Carney, just 16% were very familiar with the budget contents. Yet this group offered some of the most supportive responses across every measure tested."

What we need is a truly progressive party as a real option. If the NDP don't get that and instead try to court "moderate Liberals", they're finished.
When you're endorsed by the far-right National Post, it's time to change direction: you're most certainly doing something wrong. I'd be curious to know how many card-carrying Mb NDP members are happy with Mr. Kinew's lurch to the right. #MbPoli

Please stop saying things like "We had to vote for Carney, it was the only alternative to PP".

It's just not true. In fact, that kind of thinking made and continues to make things worse.

"When asked whether the budget made them more or less confident that the government has a clear plan to grow the economy, make life more affordable, and protect Canadians from global uncertainty only 16% said it made them more confident. A much larger group — 39% — said it made them less confident."
Canadians are split on the Carney government’s first budget.

Support for key measures is strong, but the story tying it all together hasn’t landed.

While disappointing (and likely to not work), Carney’s reliance on incentivizing the private sector to lead an economic revolution is very much in line with his view of government as a burden to be minimized, not a unique asset to be exploited. See: tax cuts, austerity.

I can't believe people say things like PP could never win, forgetting that he was on track to win a huge majority just months before the election.
No tested Conservative alternative performs better than Pierre Poilievre.
Harper polls at 34%, Ford at 31%, Kenney, Mulroney, and Rempel Garner all below 30%.

Poilievre leads with 38% against Carney’s Liberals at 36%.
