Carney is not a "centrist", he's a Harper-era conservative. However, everything has moved so far to the right that he now occupies a supposed "centre".

I'm so tired of "We had no choice but to vote Liberal".
1. Carney is Harper 2.0 and is only a "centrist" because repeatedly voting lesser evil has moved everything so far to the right.
2. "Everyone must vote Liberal" handed at least 8 seats to the Cons at the expense of NDP or Green incumbents.

As far as I can tell, Carney is "generously" "only" cutting research funding by 2%. The rest is Harper-ish plans for international recruitment (vs. funding those of us already here) and directing research funding toward industry needs (specifically, defence).

I'm reminded quite regularly of how glaring the lack of basic education in evolutionary biology is in medical training.

School's back in. Here's what the SARS-CoV-2 situation looks like in Canada based on wastewater surveillance. "Moderate" but clearly heading upwards from a relative lull. XFG (Stratus) is the dominant variant.

"Political violence is never ever justified under any circumstances whatsoever" is a fascinatingly ahistorical absolutist take as well. We can be opposed to murder without forgetting history or abandoning critical thinking.
