Know things aren't great right now, but after dealing with a family event, I'm officially looking for freelance work again. Made a new portfolio selection, focusing on what I think I do best - interviews.

Please reach out if you want to talk or are open to pitches. www.clippings.me/users/hayesm...
Everything sucks, but at least Screech is ready for the Broncos playoff run now

The refs in this Carolina-Tampa game might be some of the worst I’ve seen this entire season. What the fuck.

Anytime you see this you know it’s gonna be a good football game
gonna be honest I don't think the skycam is really helping us today

Somehow missed this, but my Remade series got featured in Critical Distance at the end of December. And that makes me tremendously happy. www.critical-distance.com/2025/12/21/d...

Chuck Schumer fucking sucks. Put him in the dictionary next to spineless
Asked about the possibility of impeachment, Schumer says "we hope that we can have support from our Republican colleagues to put a brake on this long before it gets that far"

if you are talking today about how bad maduro was and were alive, at all, during the run-up to the iraq war you are potentially the dumbest person to ever live

Talked to my entirely offline mom on the phone last night who said CBS News has become so bad she can’t even watch it anymore - and it was fascinating to see someone who has no idea what’s happening there say that.

Alright, gonna do my best to log off and not post through it - because I can barely process the real gravity of what’s happened in the last 12 hours. And this isn’t the best way to be productive. Call, email, your congresspeople - at the very least. And, my god, look out for each other

You should be embarrassed to be a member of congress and issuing anything other than impeachment resolutions. You're in the model UN. They should give you legos and a propeller hat

I just called my congressperson and left a message, I plan on calling back Monday again. Look up how to contact your representative.
Call your Congressperson now. It will be logged as “Holy cow we got X calls on the week end”. If they’re Dems they need these calls to pressure worse Dems & better Republicans. Don’t give up the ship yall.
Candid answer - as someone who handled constituent affairs calls for years - while they’re not checking the phone right now, the urgency of the moment is important.

Show them you care enough to make the weekend call, and be counted that way. Staffers will clock and report this upstream.

The United States illegally invaded another country and arrested it’s president and his family, is not something I thought I’d be saying. The US admin is completely out of control, and basically a criminal organization

Wow shit was bad when I went to bed, and it’s somehow drastically worse now that I’ve woken up.

Hey if you are like me and just woke up to a mile long feed of very vague really panicked reactions, this was really helpful in getting caught up on what's going down right now:

US captures Venezuelan president Maduro during ‘large scale’ attack and says he will face criminal charges in New York – live
US president says ‘the United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela’

The people of Venezuela do not deserve this. Solidarity with the people of Venezuela. May the words of Chavez give them some solace

Cancel the LA Olympics, scrap the World Cup, the United States cannot be a trusted part of the international community so long as the White House operates this violently and with impunity.

A war overwhelmingly opposed by the American people, committed by a government entirely unconcerned about serving the needs of the American people.
No one supports a war in Venezuela btw

Boy I am really glad I invested in a new PC four months ago
ASUS will be increasing prices on various products from January 5, including the ROG Ally, to 'absorb increasing costs across the industry'

Just a heads up, had some personal stuff get in the way so the next issue of An Evening at the Inn is gonna be out a bit late. It'll be up next week, and we'll kick off 2026 on a new bi-weekly schedule. Got a little interview this time though!

The only real downside to being part of the Writer’s Guild is the absolute flood of for your consideration emails and things I get in the actual mail every year

I would pay GOOD money to make this happen
