Finished! One of the best computer games of the year so far imo.

If you love stories in games and feel like looking back at the time of your life when you were figuring stuff out, assuming you feel put together now, this is a must play!
It's time. Perfect Tides: Station to Station is out on PC and Mac.

Valve has acknowledged that global memory and storage shortages, driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centres, have affected the production and availability of the Steam Deck.

"Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages," it stated.

Got a absolute killer long read on @thisweekinvideogames.com for the weekend:

@sambarsanti.bsky.social dives deep into the communities convinced there's "one last mystery" left to solve in Red Dead Redemption 2, speaks to one of the main sleuths, and ties it all back to Ed Harris in Westworld.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Westworld, And The Hunt For The Final Easter Egg
Like Westworld's Man in Black, this community is working to uncover what they believe is the last unsolved mystery hidden in Red Dead Redemption 2.

hey just fyi amidst all the State of Play excitement this morning, it was perhaps lost that Ubisoft confirmed that it expects to run at a loss of ONE BILLION EUROS this year
Ubisoft expects an operating loss of €1 billion for fiscal year 2025-26, according to its latest earnings report.

Previously, it expected to break even. However, in January Ubisoft cancelled the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, and delayed a game initially planned for release before March.

that's great
Wildlight CEO Dusty Welch previously told Variety:

“What we’re really hoping for is a core group of fans that love us. That will allow us to grow.”

“What we’re confident in is that we’re not going anywhere. We as a team have a lot of experience in building franchises that have staying power.”

Several now-former Highguard developers at Wildlight Entertainment have posted about layoffs at the company, with one remarking that they had affected "most of the team."

The news comes just two weeks after Highguard's launch, and ahead of its first post-launch update.

I was asked about Project Genie and wrote the response kind of tired so if you want to hear my unfiltered and slightly less-than-diplomatic answer about AI it's here
We asked game developers to share their thoughts on Google's Project Genie, a "world builder" powered by generative AI.

"Even the deeply misguided notion that this could somehow replace humans in the game development process is dangerous to the continuation of the artform," said @ramiismail.com
Game Developers Respond to Google's Project Genie: "A Deeply Unpleasant and Messy Abomination"

Picking up the Trails beyond the Horizon ball that @vook64.bsky.social kicked:

- Classification Board says IARC Refused Classification for demos
- They overturned them for an R18+
- Demos never released
- Full game hasn't even been submitted for classification
- NIS America won't responded to me
Trails beyond the Horizon, the latest in the long-running JRPG series, remains unreleased on console platforms in Australia and New Zealand weeks after its planned global release date.

The Australian Classification Board has told TWIV that the full game has yet to be submitted for an age rating.
'Trails beyond the Horizon' Remains Unreleased and Unclassified in Australia After Demo Complications
An age rating decision that restricted the release of the game's demos was overturned, but the publisher has refrained from taking steps to release the full game on consoles.
