Finished! I'm really glad I read this, for several reasons. If you're also a fan of queer cultivation stories and sci-fi, I recommend it! @aliettedebodard.com really made some loveable characters with a great group dynamic.
Currently what I'm reading on break at work, and I'm having a lot of fun with it!

Hey, is Qobuz a decent streaming service in terms of payout to artists?
I know it's got the best rates but not sure if that's any good (the best of low pay could still be low pay, if you know what I mean)
(I don't do Spotify for ethical reasons)

Me: *breaks a plate*
K1: mommy go to bed
Me: well I need to clean up
K1: yes but when you get to plate smashing you're exhausted. So go to bed
Me: ...
K1: AND NO HANDLING BREAKABLES ANYMORE
I swear the best and worst of raising kids is when they start rightfully lecturing you lol

People seem to be lumping LLM things like ChatGPT and Grok under the broader term "AI" when actually, AI includes a lot of things like machine learning and a bunch of other tools and techniques in development.

Actually I'm not 100% anti-AI. I think that AI has a lot of promise in specialty applications used by specialists.

I think that large language models in general use by the public is not really a good thing for a variety of reasons.

I’m a trained social worker. I worked with cases of CSA and other horrifying traumas. I didn’t learn til 6 months before I burnt out how dangerous and cumulative vicarious and secondary trauma are.

You don’t want this in your head and you don’t want it to live in your body. It doesn’t leave.
And as several folks are saying in the comments: curiosity about the Epstein files is understandable, but just for yourself personally, think carefully about what you want in your head forever.

It will come to you later in upsetting ways that you may not expect.

I promise you- people think they want to know the lurid details- they don't. I spent 30 years reading accounts of CA/SA and that shit never leaves your head.
I'm interested in knowing who was on public payroll and didn't do their jobs. And I'm happy to wait for the truth so it sticks.

I genuinely do not understand why so many people are so interested in other people's personal relationships, ok so this person doesnt talk to their dad, cool, am I their dad and if not why do I even care
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

Sorry, clarification - I have an immediate need for an
Illustration to go with a translation of my short story Children of Dagon and wondered if anyone here had a piece showing a seal/human creature - ideally with a ruined city landscape - ready to go, that I could haggle for. Should be SFW
Any artists out there got an available (non AI) picture of what could be a bioengineered seal/aquatic human?
