We'd already had the sexuality talk a long time ago and honestly the issue was more explaining that there's a majority experience which is straight
K1 to me: what does gay mean
Me: oh it's when *insert sexuality explanation*
K1: not that one
Me: oh, gai (cheerful in French). Rigghhhhht

Tfw of having to explain to a kiddo that showing his teacher a drawing of dark horror things in a context following a school stabbing is probably not a good idea
(Kiddo is a goth in becoming. The drawings are pretty standard for him).

I'm overwhelmed with work and, seeking sanity, am throwing myself into SFF novels. After a couple of disappointments, I chose The Red Scholar's Wake by Aliette de Bodard, knowing it was a safe bet for complex world-building and lovely writing. Even better, it also features space pirates!

Thuan tried to say that he was afraid, that he didn't want to see Asmodeus hurt, and couldn't voice any of the words. They'd become true, if he said them. "Just be reasonable. Be safe."
A snort. "I'm always so reasonable, as you well know. "

K1 watched this and really loved it
(I didn't watch all of it but was v impressed by what I saw)
Xueting's Pop Culture Digest takes a look at Jentry Chau V.s the Underworld, which I spotlighted before it came out, and finally had a chance to see. It's harder to post about works that are superb, there's so much to say. I’m very impressed with how much this high school show leans into horror. 1/

the best part of the whistle coven is that we are every name and no name, and also they are currently registering like 37 domains to redirect to us.

this post captures our chaos well 💓
Today the crew of weirdo printers that I call the whistle goblins passed A HALF MILLION whistles printed and shipped. I wrote about how we got there and how you can start printing whistles yourself. dansinker.com/posts/2026-0...

Read Apparently Sir Cameron Needs to Die which was fluffy and hilarious gay romance between a gloomy dark sorcerer and a flamboyant and cowardly knight with a taste for kink. Those two together are just so funny 😂

I can’t believe this is where we are on this stupid timeline.
Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

Kids can't hang out in parks. They can't hang out at the mall. They don't have 3rd spaces because no one wants kids around and then we are surprised when they rely on SM for connection.
If you take that away, what do they have left?

this stuff matters…mainstream media isn’t reporting it because they’re complicit in it…

Here’s why trans people and allies alike protest…
I've written a blog aimed at cis ppl, on the recent revelations of rising trans suicide rates since NHS England removed gender affirming care for u18s, in particular about my involvement with trying to seek the truth and the trauma the gaslighting by Appleby, Streeting, Cass and the media causes.
Trans youth suicide - the truth we've always known. What it means to me and what I've been doing about it.
Last week Queer AF broke a story that revealed the suicide rate in trans under eighteens is around fourteen times higher than you might expect from census data.As the parent of Alice a trans woman who...
