Bitcoin are somewhat analogous to tulips at the height of the Dutch Tulip Mania - they're speculative assets given value by the madness of crowds. S.4912 would require the USG to trade dollars for bitcoin that billionaire techbros own (b/c they, or their pals, created bitcoin, out of thin air)...

This is the "testing the waters" phase of the playbook. The GOP ecosystem targets groups like Somalis, Haitians, and trans people specifically because they've calculated that the average person's passive disapproval won't ever turn into active defense. They're exploiting public apathy.
