It is frustrating that the NYT profiled that AI grifter when Romance is such a load-bearing corner of publishing. You wouldn’t do that unless you actively hate books and the entire cultural apparatus around them.

We aren’t resting until ICE is out of MN. We aren’t stopping until ICE is completely abolished. They want us to bend the knee so they can continue separating families, but we won’t be doing that. We’re going to win, and it’s bc of the resiliency of our neighbors.

Minneapolis council member Chavez: We are not going to rest until ICE operation ends
While DHS said that it removed about 700 agents from the 3,000 that were in the state last week, Minneapolis City Council member Jason Chavez says he hasn’t seen much change on the ground.

If you create a ethnic cleansing based program involving immigration you can't reform that so that it's only wielded in responsible, narrowly prescribed ways to serve some idea of criminal Justice.
I could totally handle the one ring to rule them all. I just wouldn't let it affect me. Plus I could use that power for good. Those fuckers never thought about using it for good.

I’m slightly worried I’m becoming a little agoraphobic thanks to *gestures at outside* but I will still go on work trips because those have publicity attached to them so people notice if I don’t show up.

This is devestating.
In an alarming development, it appears the UK Government covered up a massive spike in trans youth suicides after restrictions.

Then covered it up again when caught.

Now, after fighting for years, the data is public: trans suicide increased 5x in the country.

Amongst other things, this again highlights the core point about due process. It’s bad enough to be in a “show me your papers” situation, but your precious citizen/non-citizen, “legal”/“illegal” distinctions are meaningless when you can’t prove anything to authorities because they don’t give a shit.

Note that this is local police not ICE or CPD attacking these young people. Local police are working overtime to distance themselves from ICE/CPD. Don't buy the hype.
I feel like Los Angeles is a place where people expect ICE to happen because the kidnappings have been happening to my home city for decades, so there’s less media attention to it now. and I want folks to see that in LA, Latine students are organizing major protests & the police are attacking them
