No story really starts and stops the way you write it. So I often think about what happened before, what will happen after. Sometimes I discover history that should impact the present and also that I have not written far enough and the actual final perspective of the story still lies ahead of me.

Re contracts for books, I highly recommend becoming conversant with best practices, bad boilerplate clauses, etc, even if you have an agent, so you understand everything you have signed your name to. The idea anyone should use generative AI for this purpose is laughable.

You don't have to listen to these professional liars who are barely trying. 9 months ago they were saying they were powerless to return a man they illegally sent to an El Salvador gulag because it would violate that country's national sovereignty
