From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

So @nycspeakeradams.bsky.social’s City Council is willing to put a stop to all the crap Mayor Adams is trying to do or prevent on his way out except when it comes to inconveniencing drivers and their free parking. “Shameful” is too polite a word for not protecting all pedestrians. cc @transalt.org

Still processing the inanity of this cave, like, "We're going to make Republicans go on record that they want to destroy the ACA." You mean the motherfuckers who radicalized in opposition to it & voted to repeal it, like, 22 times? You're finally getting them on record? Really impressed over here

Many Americans are hurting right now because of the shutdown, but caving to Republicans won’t end the hurt.

Trump and his lapdogs continue to assert that they alone have the power to slash whatever programs they don’t like.

Deals with this regime are meaningless.

Schumer never turned the world on with his smile, and when he's gone, the Democratic party just might make it after all.

I don't care how Schumer himself votes. The bottom line is that as Senate Majority Leader, Lyndon Johnson would have last night had on his desk eight sealed mason jars with the severed hands of every senator who even thought about raising them to vote yes. As a majority leader should.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

As I testified before Congress earlier this year, I thought $56 billion was extremely excessive compensation for a CEO.

But thanks to Elon Musk’s crony Tesla board, a $1 TRILLION pay package for him was just approved. Now shareholders are on the hook for this outrageous sum.

The junction between the politics of affordable housing and the production of affordable housing is a car crash.
In 2018, then-Mayor Ada Colau called Barcelona’s new 30% inclusionary housing requirement for projects over 600m^2 a “paradigm shift,” making housing “a right and not a commodity.” It was supposed to produce 330 affordable units a year. The reality: just 31 affordable apartments in all these years.
Cuando se ha aprobó esta medida dije repetidamente que iba a ser un fracaso y que no construirían nada de vivienda asequible. Se ha probado en mil sitios y no funciona.

Wish there was a genuine opponent to wishy=washy Hochul on the left, as so many of her policies oppose progress on the environment and many other issues. @bradlander.bsky.social, perhaps, if he's not in the @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social admin or running against Dan Goldman or Schumer?
The vibes were good last week!

But the thing about Kathy Hochul? She doesn't really like letting a good thing last.

Enjoy paying for fracked gas infrastructure and polluting Coney Island and the Rockaways, New Yorkers!

Barbara Bel Geddes as Midge in Vertigo. She's supposed to be smart, sweet but plain young woman compared to Kim Novak, but she's actually the one that would cure a lot of men of their agoraphobia and inspire them to buy nice clothes and attend every single event where she might show up.
What’s your all time favorite Hollywood Homely fail? When a woman is meant to be unattractive but she’s gorgeous. Thinking of how Safety Not Guaranteed has a key moment where a man’s ex is in the script old and no longer attractive and she’s a knockout who the movie still plays as old.
