Hunger isn’t a legal game.

While NY AG James, @governor.ny.gov, and Congressional Democrats fight to feed families, Trump is wasting time and taxpayer money to block the SNAP benefits of 42 million Americans in court.

We’ll keep fighting until every family gets the food support they deserve.
NY, NJ challenge Trump’s threats to SNAP funding amid confusion over payments
The attorneys general of New York and New Jersey said benefits were continuing for recipients despite the ongoing legal fight.

If Republicans want Democrats to support a budget bill, then they must negotiate with us.

Senate Democrats must hold the line to save health care for Americans, not trade that away for an empty promise.

I’m a NO on this shutdown deal and urge Senate Democrats to vote no.

Our waterways are one of New York’s greatest assets. Investing in them is investing in our city’s future.

I was proud to join NYCEDC today to announce the NYC Ferry Optimization Plan, expanding service to East Harlem and Sunset Park and strengthening a critical transit link for all New Yorkers.

It is unacceptable for masked ICE agents to throw tear gas on the streets of American cities.

@repscottpeters.bsky.social and I are introducing the Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act to ban ICE’s use of crowd control munitions, mandate body cameras, and protect our communities.

When pilots say controllers are overworked and safety data shows rising risk, leaders should act — not threaten more flight cuts.

Donald Trump and Sec. Duffy are gambling with lives to score political points. Reopen the government, restore full operations, and pay our aviation workers.

Firing qualified immigration judges simply because their previous experience includes immigrant defense is a blatant attack on judicial independence and due process. AG Pam Bondi and the DOJ must explain these actions immediately.

Justice demands fairness, not ideological loyalty, in our courts.

Trump’s shutdown is grounding planes, stranding travelers, and forcing air traffic controllers to work without pay.

Sec. Duffy, you are putting Americans in danger.

Stop playing political games with our travel system and urge House Republicans to return to Washington and open the government.

Heartbroken to hear of the tragic loss of a 27-year-old woman struck and killed in the West Village. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones.

We must do more to make our streets safer for pedestrians and hold reckless drivers accountable. Thank you to the NYPD for ensuring justice is met.

Food pantries are running out of supplies and turning families away. 1.8 million of our neighbors are going hungry and being forced to choose between rent and food.

All while Donald Trump sits on money that Congress already approved for SNAP.

This is cruelty, plain and simple. Fund SNAP now.

Honored to celebrate @governorsisland.bsky.social's work building a greener, more resilient, and accessible city.

I'm proud to support the green innovation and growth developing on Governor’s Island so that we can properly address climate change and environmental resiliency.

Trump is making history for all the wrong reasons. 37 days into the longest shutdown ever, millions of Americans are being punished for his political games.

Federal workers are going unpaid. Food stamps are frozen. Health care subsidies are about to expire.

This chaos and cruelty must end.

The planned demolition of homes in the Palestinian village of Umm Al-Kheir is cruel, unjust, and will only deepen division and suffering.

I am proud to stand alongside my colleagues in urging PM Netanyahu to halt this action immediately and uphold basic human rights and international law.

It was a privilege to present the Community Changemaker Award to Rosa Chang of Gotham Park at @paceuniversity.bsky.social last night.

Her vision turned a forgotten stretch beneath the Brooklyn Bridge into a thriving public space. She is a testament to what community leadership looks like in NY-10.

Even the Supreme Court is skeptical, and for good reason.

Trump’s reckless tariffs are an abuse of power that punish small business and working families already struggling with high prices.

They aren’t “life or death” for the country. They’re life or death for Americans trying to stay afloat.
November 6, 2025 at 6:06 PM
First, Trump turned the presidency into a personal piggy bank. Now, he’s turned the White House into a fundraising venue.

What are the private donors giving millions of dollars to this vanity project expecting to get in return?

Senator Blumenthal is right to demand answers.
November 5, 2025 at 8:58 PM
Refusing to pay furloughed workers isn’t a “discussion,” it’s a clear violation of a federal law that Trump himself signed.

Suggesting otherwise is an illegal and cruel insult to the hundreds of thousands of dedicated public servants being punished for a shutdown he caused.

The vile antisemitic vandalism at Magen David Yeshiva is a disgusting act of hate and a dangerous attack on our city's Jewish community.

Antisemitism continues to rise and we cannot allow it to be normalized.
All New Yorkers must condemn this hate.

I thank @nypdnews.bsky.social for investigating.

Trump’s shutdown has pushed our air traffic system to the brink. Half of all major airports are understaffed. Flights are delayed. Controllers are working unpaid double shifts.

The GOP would rather ground our planes than make health care affordable for millions of Americans.
November 5, 2025 at 5:28 PM
At a roundtable this week, I heard a story about a 70-year-old neighbor who tragically said, “Since there’s no food right now, now’s a good time to die.”

This is the cruelty of Trump withholding available SNAP funding to make people starve.

We have the funding. We need to fully release it now.
November 5, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Trump is now openly defying a court order so that he can try to extort Democrats by starving 42 million Americans who depend on SNAP to eat.

It won’t work.

Reps. Malliotakis, Lawler, and Stefanik: do you support using starvation as a political weapon?
Trump announces he will refuse to follow the court order to provide SNAP benefits to needy families.
November 4, 2025 at 7:49 PM
As Democrats have said for 3 weeks, despite the shutdown, Trump had the money for SNAP all along.

He chose not to feed the poor and used the shutdown as pretext. If he hadn't held SNAP hostage, there would not have been a funding delay, and 42M people would not be going hungry.

Even as the Trump administration stops short of fully funding SNAP payments this month, the USDA is warning grocery stores NOT to help families in need.

Instead of fixing the crisis they created, they’re making it harder for parents to feed their kids. Absolutely shameful.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

@jd-vance-1.bsky.social and Sec. Duffy are recklessly creating an air travel catastrophe. Forcing air traffic controllers to miss paychecks and leave their jobs before the holiday season jeopardizes safety.

End the shutdown now. Pay our essential workers and stop holding our travel system hostage.
