WHEN WE’RE IN CHARGE is now out!!

Based on a decade+ of experience + 100s of interviews, I wrote a practical guidebook for millennials and gen Z on how to be an effective leader without being an asshole.

This is an excellent two-part overview of one of the problems of politics that those who don't do this professionally don't see - our failure to fund sustained political work means there aren't career ladders for operatives.

And, you can also change the narrative yourself, by leading the public. Public pressure absolutely moves politicians. Sitting around waiting for others to take this seriously is failing. Making something the story and making the public care about it is the job of a politician.
IMO the argument is that you can make things into big enough deals that it matters. Khanna found Massey and found survivors and made the Epstein Files the gigantic story it should be. Only then did establishment Dems come along. You can, in fact, make things into big hairy deals if you do it right.
if you want the Senate to do something, Senate Republicans must do something.

People are dunking on this but I'm not really sure what plays Schumer has other than to try to peel off Rs.

Amid the chaos, here’s what progress looks like. RFS alumni Jayden Williams and Akbar Ali, both in their 20s, were elected last year and are now in office 🎉

This isn’t symbolism. It’s young leaders governing, shaping policy, and building real power one office at a time.

The 20 minutes of quiet to drink my coffee this morning were pure bliss.
we need a hangover day for parent recovery after the holidays, nobody should have to do work until they've had a day of peace and quiet at home

“The theme that we have seen this year, different from years past, is ‘I’m done waiting around. I’m sick of being told it’s not my turn,’” @amandalitman.bsky.social tells @politico.com.

Millennial and Gen Z Democrats are running on something their predecessors can’t quite figure out — the social media algorithm.

A true & earnest thing: Despite the fact that I live & breathe politics professionally, voted in two elections, subscribe to lots of media, engage in political discourse, and gave to campaigns, I think our weekly dinners may have been my most meaningful political act of the year.

Lily Franklin kept it real: Young people want to run, they just don’t always know where to start. RFS backed her in both of her campaigns so she could focus on leading, not guessing. If you’re ready to make moves but need the infrastructure, we’ve got you.

The housing shortage is a central driver of inequality, displacement, and economic insecurity in Wake County. I’m proud to have championed zoning reform in Raleigh. It’s great to see Mayor Zohran adopt an abundance and reform agenda. It’s not progressive to oppose new housing.
On his first day, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed two executive orders aimed at accelerating housing production;

1) Land Inventory Fast Track to identify city-owned sites for housing.
2) Streamlining task force to cut permitting and bureaucratic barriers slowing construction.

Despite what we are often told, this line from Mamdani’s inauguration speech is what true pragmatism actually looks like:

“Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously. We may not always succeed. But never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try.”

Watching Zohran speak and phew! Believing better things are possible is fundamental to my politics and I’m okay if that’s cheesy.

Watching her speak at Mamdani’s inauguration and once again I believe: If AOC wants to be president one day, she will be.

I’ll be on @msnownews.bsky.social from 1-2 as they dip in and out of the Mamdani inauguration - I’m not hungover but I did enjoy the screams of a 3 year old before 8am today so, I feel similarly drained!

All of this. Why @runforsomething.net’s work matters, in a nutshell!
The only thing I’m confident in saying is that candidate quality—authenticity, real values, charisma, communication skills—matters more than ever. Also think/hope we’ll see more local and in-person organizing, including to meet people’s material needs and rebuild missing or broken community.
