Dems are winning offices I didn’t even know existed.

Prothonotary?

I think they invented that, installed a GOPer in it, and then voted him out for sport.

Prothonotary sounds like a mid-level Vatican office held over from some 8th century schism.

But it got flipped in Bucks County!

This is why the Bove seat was vacant, and there’s a real throughline from the forces that defeated the previous Democratic nominee to where we are today.

Multiple credible claims that Bove urged DOJ employees to break the law and ignore the judiciary. And the GOP Senate decided this is not disqualifying because nothing is disqualifying.
By a vote of 50-49, the #Senate confirmed Emil J. Bove III to be a United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit

Republican Senators Collins and Murkowski voted against.
Senator Hagerty did not vote.
No further votes this evening.

This is the core proposition & selling point for reactionary thought: not that they are better, but simply that *everyone* is corrupt, everyone is a crook, everyone's just out for themselves, so you might as well get yours. That is the molten core of right-wing thought everywhere.
Sen. John Kennedy defends Emil Bove: "If everyone is corrupt, nobody is corrupt."

Bove himself is a literal criminal. A man whose short time in the public eye is defined by his open contempt for the law and those responsible for enforcing it. And the only reason he was nominated is because of his slavish devotion to the president’s most lawless impulses.

The extremely simple fact is that Jeff Epstein was the most notorious child sex trafficker in history, and the President of the US was his close personal friend for decades

Acting like this is complicated is absurd. The man knew what Epstein did, didn't care, and participated

Reminder that Emil Bove's seat had been left vacant in 2023. Biden announced he would nominate Adeel A. Mangi that year, but CCM, Rosen, and Manchin all opposed him after a smear campaign that started with Republicans trying to tie him to Hamas and accuse him of being a radical.

Just learned from LinkedIn that a Heritage Foundation affiliate is now FOIA-ing (or equivalent) instructors’ syllabi to go snooping for supposed illegal DEI at state universities. It’s hard to describe how far past McCarthyism we’re headed here.

I think the takeaway of this opinion day is that this court would rather sever the bounds of union and burn down the public square in order to see those they deem as less than not benefit
BREAKING: Parents win in a free exercise challenge to what the Supreme Court calls "LGBTQ+-inclusive" texts in a school. Alito, for the 6-3 court, reverses the Fourth Circuit in a case over a school district's lack of any parental "opt-out policy" over those texts. Sotomayor writes the dissent.

It turns out that the “we want communism or nothing” voter is very difficult to placate and also not very numerous!
I think a lot of hard left accounts on here don’t fully realize the extent to which the center-left genuinely believes they made a good faith effort to reach out which was met with rejection, betrayal, and libel. You may not think it accurate or fair, but the belief is sincerely held.

I doubt the messaging would have been enough to make a difference, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have pursued it more vigorously. We should definitely do so in 2026 & 2028, even if bigger issues supersede it. Trump is getting older & less coherent by the day & we should take advantage
