It's a relief, sure. But it's insane that it's a thing we need relief from, that it was 6-3, that Trump will now deliberately misinterpret other laws for the same ends, and that he can continue destroying world trade for another year until SCOTUS stops him again.

Our system isn't equipped for this.

There's three votes for anything on the supreme court. If trump said "I'm the god-king of arrakis" he'd get three votes and a lengthy opinion about the long history and tradition of english common law with regards to the spice melange

you may also remember that the "board of peace" is structured so that donald trump, personally, has sole and absolute control over it. he's just stealing our fucking money. what i want from my dems? a commitment to take that shit back.
Trump: "I want to let you know that United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion to the Board of Peace." (Congress has not appropriated this money!)

Good question. Glad to see Niskanen not only did some research, they also made it freely available for everyone to read.

OPINION by Michael Schaus: Voter ID is a sensible security measure. But the SAVE Act lights the fuse on a federal takeover of local elections — and it all but guarantees a democracy permanently marred by partisan meddling.

It's less impossible this cycle than usual — which means the race is drawing more talented Democrats than usual.
Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District has been held by Republicans since it was created. But incumbent Rep. Mark Amodei’s retirement has many Democratic candidates hoping to make history in 2026.

okay you know what we're doing this

why rise of skywalker is the worst crime ever committed against cinema and the very concept of a coherent fictional universe: a thread
it is not interested in plot, it is not interested in worldbuilding, it is not interested in anything except throwing random disconnected snapshots of nostalgia at you

rise of skywalker kicks over the sandbox and leaves you uninterested in star wars in a way the prequels never did
I feel comfortable saying Rise of Skywalker was the worst Star Wars because it is the only one I genuinely do not remember enough of it to offer a coherent explanation of the plot. I think a knife and Poe’s ex-wife were somehow involved.

With the benefit of over a century of hindsight, it turns out it's easier to raise livestock that eat barley, potatoes and vegetables in White Pine County than it is to actually cultivate any of those crops there.

❄️ Hazardous weather and icy road conditions are prompting a second consecutive day of school closures in Washoe County on Wednesday, while state government offices will open late in several northern Nevada counties and the University of Nevada, Reno suspended in-person operations.
