I know it’s only a draft bill but as someone who has made London her home with her British partner, this proposal is incredibly scary. Immigrants make the UK work - we are in the NHS, in the schools, all over the place - and this would cause chaos and ruin lives.
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!

Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.

If scrapping indefinite leave to remain (ILR) entirely, as Reform would do, is racist, according to Labour, what is making ILR twice as difficult, expensive & humiliating to obtain, as Labour are doing?

Or point out that Farage wants to reduce and remove all our rights, not just immigrants. His mendacity already helped strip us of our rights to travel, live, and work freely in Europe. The country is poorer and less powerful, because of policies he agitates for. Also immigration is good 👍
Opinion: The past decade was a masterclass in how to misread a nation. If Sir Keir Starmer doesn’t want to gift Britain to Reform, he needs to prove fast that he can be tough and effective on immigration on.ft.com/47dejup

Just because diagnoses of mental ill health or neurodivergence have increased, it does not follow they are incorrect. Gee, people are being diagnosed with bad mental health post-pandemic? Weird, did anything huge and damaging happen that might account for that? brb just googling 'the pandemic'
