Hi there new people (and old people too, of course)!

So I was trying to think of an easy way to explain what sort of games I like and what you'll probably see here but my taste is... well, I'm kinda a bit like this:
Please.
Please can I go one day without a sodding typo D:

The Resident Evil Outbreak OST is severely underrated. I love the intro theme, as it has a creeping melancholy, making Birkin seem more like a tragic monster. A prisoner trapped in his own body as G took over and set off events that would lead to countless deaths.

Monster Hunter Stories 3, like the previous entries in the subseries and the MonHun Diaries games before it, does a wonderful job of showing just how strong a setting the MonHun world is. Huge tone/genre shifts? No problem! Hunting/gathering/ecosystem-related stuff is always cool!

Did you know that forums.insertcredit.com 1) does not require you to scan your face 2) is nice and slow paced 3) has a cool established community already?

Just mentioning that today in case it is of interest to anybody.

Here's a new article for all Ko-fi supporters! The Chaos Engine is a fascinating slice of the early '90s UK gaming scene; accomplished and confident and either unaware or unbothered by the fact the rest of the gaming world was happily moving on without it:

Happy 30th birthday, Bahamut Lagoon! A game for me that's wrapped up in ZSNES and fan translation nostalgia, eagerly awaiting each new update in 2001-02.

Absolutely gorgeous, with some of Square's best giving one of the last hurrahs to the Super Fami before setting sail for PlayStation shores.

By 1986 there wasn't much room for complex simulations at the top of the UK games chart. Then along came MicroProse, and a submarine combat game by a designer who Commodore User referred to as 'Sid Mayer'...

I am an unstoppable monster, menacingly approaching you in a narrow corridor. My horrific mass fills all available space. Fight me or di-ah. It turns out my right claw swipe gives players just enough room to dash by, and the door at the end also triggers the "battle complete" flag. So. That's that.
Going around and asking my friends, hey, purely hypothetically, if you were, say, a giant mutant boss in a survival-horror video game, what do you think your boss fight's speed kill strat would be? Pure curiosity, no wrong answers.

I hope it's obvious but I'll say it out loud anyway: Such critique comes from a place of love for these games and gaming as a whole. I want to notice when someone shoots for the stars, even if they don't get there. I want to wonder if [game] really was the best a team could do. I want to see it all.
