Democrats gave us a soft landing from a worldwide recession and the best performing economy in the world, among other things, and they were voted out. Is that what they deserve shame for? Delivering as much as could be hoped despite only having a majority for 2 years? That?
Yup. And for those that are lessons impaired: There is no good way to throw out the rule of law, and you absolutely do not want to live in a nation without it.
We’ve grown arrogant about the rule of law, like it’s permanent instead of fragile. Jack Smith is right. Democracy isn’t given, it’s maintained. Democracy is flawed, but until we’re governed by empathy and compassion, it’s the best tool we have. And it’s easier to lose than people think.
Jack Smith warns Americans not to take rule of law 'for granted'
The former special counsel testified publicly about his investigations in President Donald Trump for the first time, saying Trump engaged in a "criminal scheme" to overturn his 2020 election loss.

Paper of Record: “ICE explores the boundaries of law enforcement tactics.”

People magazine with Taylor Swift on the cover: “ICE friggin kidnapped a g-d CHILD!”
People magazine stating things so plainly and accurately in their headlines reeeeeeally underscores the failures of many other news outlets.
What America will read this weekend while in line at the grocery checkout:

As Rumsfeld said: “We go to war with the military we have, not the one we wish we had.” This country is being destroyed and we only have one Party that is on the field against the enemy of democracy. Build up the ones who are fighting well. Catch them doing things right.
If you don’t know of any, you aren’t watching closely enough. Parenting 101: Notice when they do something RIGHT. Reinforce the behavior you WANT. Pay attention to those who say what you want all of them saying, or voting as you want.

Correct. There was no speed-running putting an ex-president, future-candidate, leader-of-the-gop who was crowned most specialist president ever by scotus, in jail. It had to be the most air tight case this country has ever seen. That takes time.
I think my biggest break from this site's zeitgeist is I earnestly believe that the United States Government spent 2021-2024 trying to build a case strong enough to survive appeals and see Donald Trump die in prison, or in the alternative force SCOTUS to break the Constitution declare Trump a king.

For the folks in back: how in the fuck are Democrats supposed to Message their way out of all of this when die-hard Democrats are lying openly about what Democrats have or haven't done?

It's one thing to genuinely be ignorant on this stuff, but I *know* that Will fancies himself a Politics Knower!

NATO was created after WWII to block Russian aggression in Europe.
Every Russian leader in the past 75 years has tried to destroy NATO.
Putin is finally succeeding by making Trump his bitch.
As a bonus Trump is bankrupting America.
Putin is laughing his ass off.

This is why I always emphasize that "the media just likes Trump for clicks and ratings" is not accurate. The Jeffrey Epstein scandal is the worst in political history and instead of sensationalizing it, they repeatedly minimize it and downplay it despite massive public interest
public perception says mainstream media is sensationalist, lusts for scandal, will make anything up to sell papers and get clicks etc.,

and then this particular president does like 10 scandals a day and mainstream media insists on describing his actions in the most uninteresting way possible
Right on cue, here are the push alerts from the 3 major newspapers lmao

1. In a major victory, Democrats have managed to get all anti-trans riders stripped from the final appropriations bills.

This includes HHS and Ed, which had the worst provisions in congressional history.

If it passes, it will be a big win for 2026.

Democrats Successfully Strip All Anti-Trans Riders From Final Appropriations Bills
The HHS and Education bills once contained the most sweeping anti-trans provisions in congressional history. Now they contain none.

As expected this thread is filled with people proving the point. The US is not the source of all bigotry in the world, for godssake.
There are a lot of people like this in first and second generation communities and BlueSky is often very uncomfortable acknowledging this.

This is on you, people who didn’t vote for Harris. There are consequences to not taking your vote seriously.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"

I spent all of 2024 watching this site in particular scream at Biden & then Harris that it was tantamount to blackmail to emphasize Trump being a fascist/threat to democracy, that they had to "give ppl something to vote for besides just being anti-Trump" & that voters cared more about prices anyways
You want to know why Chuck Schumer is talking about affordability & not Trump being a fascist? It's because we already tried talking about him being a fascist *& everyone ignored us*.
A big part of why we are at where we are is that much of the world, the press, foreign leaders, a big hunk of US voters, simply refused to believe it when Democrats said Trump would be as bad as he is.

there are lots of jobs in the opposition. one of the main ones is to wedge off votes from the party in power. that is arguably the most effective opposition

this is the job of the minority leaders and most of you would be very very bad at it

My idea for if the Dems gain the house and senate: apart from all of the important bills they need to pass (that Trump will veto), also include low hanging fruit like making the sale or trade of Nazi memorabilia or iconography illegal where either passing or vetoed the outcome would harm the gop.
January 18, 2026 at 8:25 PM
He’s even dressing like a Nazi now. There’s no standard issue border patrol wool overcoat. This is a custom order and he’s deliberately aping the wehrmacht. Bet on it.

If all of this hasn’t convinced you to be a partisan Democrat you’re part of the problem.
