Schumer wanted to keep fighting for political reasons. Shaheen and crew wanted the deal because the shutdown had become pointless as there was no ACA deal to be had with Republicans. In my book they were both right. Schumer for wanting the fight and Shaheen for sticking to reality.

Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

Near Morro Bay I saw all these spiders that made little suspended homes next to their catchin’ web. They’re Labyrinth Spiders, apparently, some species of Metepeira. Never seen anything like it before. So cool (and hard to photograph with an iPhone).

Slow Horses is the best show on TV. This season was maybe the least good season and yet it was still better than everything else ever in the history of the world. Well, it’s a great show is what I’m saying.
