Hi all, a quick thread to introduce myself.

I post my camera trap photos & videos. I also do meteor photography/time-lapse/3D photography.

I love tinkering with and building camera setups, I post my tests and results here quite often.

I also enjoy doing insect & bird flight path/trail videos.

A new 'house' cat triggered the camera, got to say, I like the white moustache.

A black and white night photo from my camera, it shows part of my garden with small landscaping rocks in the foreground and various plants and shrubs in the background. A rather handsome house cat, that is definitely not at home, triggers the camera. The cat is black or perhaps grey with white chest and paws. It also has a very distinguished white moustache. The same place in the garden as the first photo, only this time it's a raccoon on the right side of the frame, it's looking right at the camera so we can see its black face mask, little black nose, white whiskers and small, roundish, raccoon ears. This Agent of Chaos decided to move the camera around as raccoons do.

Some raven flight path trails this afternoon. I've heard them around and seen them but it's been a while since they've flown around the house.

Getting set for a year long project with SkyCam, testing has been completed and power supplies are good. Now it's the long wait lol. I'll still be using this camera for meteor videos and timelapse and now the year long project has been added.
Fingers crossed, if nothing else, I'll learn a lot. 😁👍
A night, color shot of the sky showing the apparent movement of the stars as they create star trails around Polaris, the North Star. The star trails are ever increasing circles out from Polaris. There are quite a few dots in the image, making lines at times, they're aircraft doing aircraft things. Tree tops are at the bottom left and right of the image.

Duck foot print in sleet
Two 3-toed webbed foot prints are visible on a thin layer of sleet which is white on one side of the picture but progressively more tan toward the left of the picture due to mud seeping through the layer of sleet.

Warmer overnight temperatures expected, in the teens F tonight so maybe more than squirrels will come past the camera.
Daytime shot looking out into the garden. Snow showers expected tomorrow morning.
Actual temp was 32F, camera warmed up taking lots of squirrel photos. 😁
A daytime photo from the same place I typically get the raccoon and fox photos. Small landscaping rocks in the foreground with shrubs and plants dotted around in the background. A raised flower bed is in the background, covered in snow. There's a squirrel on the left side and right side of the frame. They're both looking into the center of the frame, broadside to the camera. It's been very quiet in the garden lately, typical for this time of year and with these temps and snow on the ground.

-7F this morning, definitely cold enough to freeze a bubble! Macro video of bubble freezing.

We're on the far edge of storm that ravaged the South and NorthEast of the country so we only got a few inches of snow and below freezing temperatures.

I love watching the dendritic ice crystals growing.

Some of my camera trap photos over the years of the squirrels in our area.
Day photo of Hoover, the squirrel, at the bird feeder. It looks like he's riding an imaginary motorbike with his front paws in the air and his fingers curled around into a kind of fist. His back paws are on the feeder rim. Platform feeder in foreground with small landscaping rocks and shrubs in background along with a wooden fence. A group of Wyoming ground squirrels all looking to the left as they stand up on their rear legs. I don't know what was over to the left but it must have been truly amazing to get this number of squirrels to look that way all at the same time. Bird seed on ground in the foreground, various green grasses dotted around and a piece of driftwood lying horizontally in the middle ground. Blue sky with some large white clouds in the background. Two cheeky Wyoming ground squirrels eating the bird seed I put out, looks like they know they've been caught in the act with one looking into the camera, its cheeks stuffed with seed, the squirrel above it has its paws held to its face. Bird seed on the ground, rocks in the middle ground, prairie in the background. A cloudy sky. A very dramatic ground squirrel behind a rock, its head visible with one front paw lifted high with all its little finger splayed out in possibly a high five configuration. It's not widely known but these little squirrels are extremely dramatic lol. Green grasses around the photo with several rocks stacked together in the center. Cloudy sky behind.

We had a windstorm last night.

Mule deer are quite interested in raccoons. This deer saw the raccoon entering the garden and followed it all the way to the moonlight broom shrub area and watched it for a minute or so.

We joked to each other yesterday, as we cleaned up the garden, that the deer would know and come by. Well, they didn't disappoint. 😁

Here, one of the mule deer breaks the ice to drink.

Bonus, little deer teeth.

Once this hole was made, the other members of the herd used it to drink.

Interesting white stripe pattern on right side only, good for ID.

His claws are visible as are the tiny folds of fur and skin on that paw, which I think looks awfully cute but maybe that's just me. Brilliant skunk. 10/10. The same part of the garden only now the skunk is broadside to the camera with its head facing to the right of the frame. Its tail is held high and proud. It has an interesting, and good for ID, white stripe pattern on this one side. You guessed it, same spot in the garden but now our hero has his mouth slightly open with one canine tooth very visible, the other is there, just not so visible in the camera IR lights. He looks a cheeky chappy. Tiny skunk tongue! our hero is still in the same area but this time in the center of the frame, more or less. Tail still held high and proud, mouth slightly open with its tongue just poking out and down. For good measure he has a tiny bit of leaf on his nose.

It's been ages since we've seen a skunk in the garden but last night we had 2 wandering around. They begin to get more active as mating season approaches. What a magnificent tail, we'll have to call this one Super Swiffer 2.0 😁

Furnando visited the garden as the snow was beginning to fall. He, or she, didn't stay around long.

SkyCam is under several inches of snow right now, but still working. 👍 Please enjoy what has to be the most exciting photo on the internet to date. 🤣

Skycam has had some routine maintenance today, snow tomorrow into Friday so up on the roof today 👍 Adjusted position - was missing parts of meteor train.
Other camera programming has gone well, it's now semi-autonomous, I have to change power supplies/SD card but it runs completely unattended. 👍
A day photo. The camera is looking up into the sky. Tree tops along the bottom of the frame and white clouds here and there against a nice blue sky. This is the view my sky camera gets, it records 24/7.
