Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

Alright here is what different matchups would have looked like if other candidates were in the final round against Frey, broken down by ward.

Jazz and DeWayne would have improved on Omar in wards 8 and 11-13. Omar had the edge everywhere else - especially wards 2, 5, 6, and 10

it seems to be impossible to get a straight answer on whether this hemp language being discussed in the ag appropriations bill will kill all hemp-derived THC production (and royally hurt many MN breweries) or just ban the unregulated stuff from being sold by mail (which would prob help breweries???)

All the Jazz Hampton & especially Dewayne Davis truthers will be disappointed. Fateh drove Frey’s vote total to 50% but no other candidate would get as close.
As others have mentioned, we now have the Cast Vote Record for the Minneapolis mayoral election. I'm going to be doing a good bit of digging into this, but I'll start with the big question: How would DeWayne Davis or Jazz Hampton have done in a final round against Jacob Frey?

Final-round Mpls mayor ballots in. Short 🧵:
- Frey won 7 wards, Fateh 6
- Frey won the 5 votingest wards (excluding exhausted ballots) … over *60%* in each. Fateh won next 5 but basically didn’t matter at that point.
- All wards redistricted since ‘21. Still, Ward 6 went from 64% Frey to 72% Fateh!

will look deeper in the days and weeks ahead, but my quick run through the CVR seems to indicate that if DeWayne Davis made it to the final round over Fateh, he would have lost to Frey by 12,153 votes based on the ballots that were cast. Fateh lost by 8,346.

The deal between Minneapolis teachers and the school district will shrink class sizes, create manageable special education caseloads and raise pay, including giving a 2% increase to teachers this year.

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

Carefully choreographed votes and angry press releases are all cute, but the indication of whether anyone in the caucus really cares is whether there’s any push for leadership changes or punitive action against the cavers.

There won’t be, but that would be the theoretical sign this is different
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

noted, documented transphobe Latonya Reeves knows you can't win here if you abandon trans folks. her behavior at the annual meeting for the DFL Feminist Caucus is fully incompatible with this section of her website

Ilhan Omar has always stood up for trans folks in CD5, and she'll continue to do so
latonya reeves on "Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality and Transgender Rights" for her CD5 run

another stunning victory for ilhan omar!

Bloomberg: "If that vote succeeds, the Senate will need the consent of all members to end the shutdown quickly. Any one senator can force days of delay and votes."

Any one senator. Will that be you, Sen. Klobuchar?
Lowering costs is the top priority for the American people. I voted against this budget bill because it does not prevent health insurance premiums from doubling for so many Americans. The President and Congressional Republicans should have come to the table to work with us to lower these costs.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

So many people seem to be misunderstanding how human beings vote. We’re not automatons. We’re motivated by emotion, connection, and our own goals. Assuming everyone will line up behind you because you think you have some perfect analysis is never going to be a realistic outcome.

I had a law school prof who would pose a hypothetical, and anytime someone tried to change the facts he’d say “yes, if the facts were different, the facts would be different.” Meaning we could debate about different factual scenarios all day and never get to answer the scenario we are in.
