In a world where the incumbent president bowed to pressure and stepped aside, it doesn’t seem like such a monumental ask to switch minority leaders.

Susan Collins called the shutdown totally unnecessary and shameful.

Senate Democrats lack "muscle memory" of how to win in Senate. The filibuster is a tool to force majority to allow up or down votes on amendments to pending bills. 51 votes and it's in the bill: that's how the Senate worked for decades. If Dem Leadership won't fight for that, we need new leaders.

It’s okay because the Republicans promised to hold this exact same vote in a month
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Get ready for this framing and similar ones. I've already seen lots of social media posts hailing Trump for 'breaking the Democrats'. Cool move, Cuck Caucus!

Expel the yes votes from the party and cut off all their access to fundraising, then remove Schumer from leadership. Anything less is mealy-mouthed coward bullshit.
As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote.

Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Obligatory caveat that I hate the Senate Dems and the large majority of House Dems too because I hate a lot of people, but my main issue online is people don’t hate Republicans enough. They aren’t the protagonists, they aren’t even human

@kaine.senate.gov I will happily vote for your primary challenger if you vote for this stupid deal. I'm not alone. Virginians are already upset, don't make it worse.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
