I am not defending Landon’s relationship with Epstein. In fact, the NYT didn’t even try to defend it. He left the paper. What I’m saying is that a piece of investigative journalism that exposes a secret, criminal act such as statutory rape requires far more than what is in these emails.

The defense of the NYT's decisions in this era was that they expected Trump to lose and didn't want to look biased against him, so they went extra-hard on Hillary. I don't think that holds up to this new information (if it ever did).
At the same time the New York Times was running nonstop stories on Hillary's email server, they were sitting on this emails (and photos of Trump with Epstein victims, apparently).

In reality if there was a real life Goldfinger the real life James Bond would be an accountant flown in to see if he could convince him to store the Fort Knox gold in Britain at a nominal tax rate.
As said elsewhere: it turns out the only thing unrealistic about a Bond villain is that there'd be a James Bond trying to stop them.
