we're bringing back damnatio memoriae. the 45th and 47th presidencies were filled by, officially, no one
Naming US government property after a sitting President is anti-democratic and naming it *after yourself* is pathetic. Trump's name should be stripped from the Kennedy Center when he's out of office.

There has been one (1) period of sustained deflation (eg prices down for multiple years in a row) since the 1910s. That was the Great Depression. I understand why people (not Chris, he gets it) naively think prices should fall but I cannot emphasize enough how Bad that would be.

With all the road washouts, the state transportation budget is going to be a mess. Maybe it's time we started looking at cutting projects that increase highway capacity and induce more sprawl.
Here's $86 million we don't need to spend.

This project aims to improve mobility for travelers who use the I-5 - Northeast 179th Street interchange. Signalized intersections will be removed and replaced with roundabouts at the on- and off-ramp...

Musk WILL turn off Starlink when Ukraine counter-attacks.

Musk WON'T disable Russia's use of Starlink.

But sure, buy a Tesla. Line the Russia-supporting Nazi's pockets. Pretend like it's just the normal "business as usual".
Musk’s Starlinks help russia to kill Ukrainians

Ukrainian military reports indicate that Russian Molniya-2 kamikaze drones are using continuous Starlink connectivity, significantly increasing their operational effectiveness.

Trump and Musk eliminated 18F and destroyed USDS, and now the feds are scrambling to rebuild the capacity that they destroyed.

They should run politicized community services. The GOP does this via their church network.
DSA organizes speed dating and other random outings; dems should as well. friday night magic, a stable of dnd dms, fill every niche. the fuck else are you doing, going to another gala?
It would be extremely smart if the Democratic Party held trainings and maybe subsidized equipment for members of local Democratic clubs to start making video content. Given the death of local news, there is a tremendous content void to be filled.

old twitter was like a place in interwar berlin, paris, or shanghai people have romantic memories about in spite of witnessing knife fights between prostitutes daily and heroin junkies overdosing
My pleases-nobody sense of Return To Twitter Discourse is that the place can never return to what it was, and can never return to the idealized past version we imagine either, nor can that idealized past version be constructed anywhere else because it was always romantic self-regarding bullshit

Tearing it down or spending $100M shining the turd.

If it goes up, they're going to spend 50 years fixing it and trying to make it "integrate" with the rest of the building better. They won't tear it down for better or worse.

like, rubio was never going beyond his senate station in any administration other than this one, noem was never going to the senate, hegseth has never been a politician, zeldin was a washout, loeffler's a loser, bondi was never leaving florida, gabbard was basically unemployable

Democrats would be crazy not to make this comment super-famous tomorrow when the Senate debates health care. Republicans don’t want you to be cared for as a patient when you’re sick. They think of you as a “consumer”—and tough luck if you don’t have the money for the care you need.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

WHICH MESSAGE WILL RESONATE WITH DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS?

"Better angels of our nature"

OR

"Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger... I will punish the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pomp of the ruthless."
Once again, for 2028 I'm a single issue voter and that issue is post-Trump lustration. GTFO with "better angels of our nature" for once.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
