kavanaugh not beating the allegations that he’s a dumbass
Brett Kavanaugh (September 2025): The facts and how they relate to the law don’t matter. Assume ICE and other federal forces always act with integrity, always respect rights, and consistently impose minimal burden.

Brett Kavanaugh (December 2025): Should I not have done that? Was that wrong?
Kavanaugh in a footnote in today's opinion says "the officers must not make interior immigration stops or arrests based on race or ethnicity."

Technically, this tweet is coming from our government. But it sounds like & reads like it’s coming from Trump’s lawyers. Trump has so completely corrupted our Justice Department.

Rationing is a reality of every country’s health care system, including ours, which is obvious to anybody who has ever battled insurance companies for approvals of treatments or consultations—or simply waited many months to see a specialist.

Every homeowner should be barred from future votes on housing since the potential for gain is far higher than Jesse Zwick's piddly ass nonprofit salary.
In Santa Monica, the FPPC has disqualified pro-housing Councilmember Jesse Zwick from all future housing votes. They said that because he works for a housing non-profit, he’s “conflicted” and must recuse.

Pretty absurd. The NIMBY deep state strikes again.

tbh i think “build a party media apparatus” goes a long way since it at least lets you achieve a level of perpetual mobilization among part of your base and also communicate to electeds what the red meat of the day should be

i mean this is the point i am constantly making. people want to live in an economy where *their* labor is in high demand, but *other people's* labor is in low demand. this is because people really like *service*--not just goods that substitute for service, but service by another human
I don’t remember who it was, maybe @redderbeanpaste.bsky.social?, who pointed out all those “it’s so cheap and convenient!” you hear from expats is because there are a bunch of lowly paid workers who are ‘invisible’

The Governor of West Virginia has requested that the Purple Heart be awarded to SPC Sarah Beckstrom and Ssgt Andrew Wolfe for wounds sustained during the WVNG's mobilization in DC.

The DoD's decision on these awards will be extremely telling.

also, these "WAR" values (a) are derived from a statistical model that produces ideologically convenient results that no other open-source model replicates, (b) lack controls for important factors like fundraising and candidate experience, and (c) completely ignore uncertainty in the data. not good!
it is one thing to say "here is what our measurements tell us about the playing field," it is something very different to leap from that to "and here is why we have a better understanding of your specific circumstance and your particular electorate than you, the person who represents the district"

There’s nothing wrong with @casten.house.gov being an electoral underperformer in a safe seat, but in his thread attacking me he is asking Democrats to defer to his political judgment. I think it’s a smarter bet to defer to folks who overperform in tough races.

Impersonal bureaucratic systems are liberation from the tyranny of the village and the tribe. Long live modernity
"village" mentality is what sustains conservatism. not being able to do anything without the Grandma Gestapo reporting your every move. depending on the easily withdrawn kindness of others instead of impersonal but reliable services. and of course obeying aristocratic landowners

A more succinct way of saying this: wars are political and unless you resolve the political conditions that gave rise to the war you will not end the war. This is way the flurry of American-brokered peace deals keep unravelling.
