Nothing destroys religion better than a state church, and nothing protects it better than secular government. Counterintuitive but true
The data is stark. Iran: 47% report losing their religion, regime officials openly worry about godlessness. Turkey: atheism jumps from 2% to 10% since the 2000s. When religious practice signals political power rather than virtue, the public stops equating piety with morality.

Look folks, if you want to grow the economy you can either increase productivity or increase the size of the population. The Trump Administration is trying to shrink the population via a campaign of terror against immigrants and killing productivity gains via defunding science and unis.
"In 2023, the economy added 3 million jobs. In 2024, still under Biden, it added 2.2 million jobs. In 2025, under Trump, it added just 181,000 jobs. This is a story about an economy getting throttled by one man and his capricious, destructive governance."

I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
I love how far afield this is from any problem government can address. “Now that Trump won people have to like and agree with me and not tell me I suck anymore.” bsky.app/profile/yash...

ever since we invented farming the main driving motivation for basically every human who's ever lived is "how can i do as little farming as possible"
People seem to forget that the reason the industrial revolution worked is that, however bad factories were, it was way way way better than subsistence farming

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

The mood in Minneapolis blended open defiance with unbridled compassion — the same sentiments I’ve encountered throughout Ukraine during four years of war. And as Putin learned about Ukrainians, Trump has discovered that Minnesotans will oppose the invaders and love their own with equal ferocity.
Welcome to Minneapolis, Ukraine
Under siege from invading forces, Minnesotans have shown a resolve best described as Ukrainian

This Ossoff speech is holy fire
SEN. OSSOFF: “.. why are roving gangs of masked men — who look like they couldn’t pass the Army physical exam — dressed up like pretend Delta Force operators, on our streets, demanding papers, dragging people from their cars, and shooting people to death?”

This is actually a very good point, in the sense that Schmitts view of successful politic was deconstructed brick by brick in front of him and annihilated by the forces he thought they were going to destroy.

My actual job description is activist and here’s what I tell people in despair all the time: do not underestimate how much harm you can prevent by being just a little bit annoying.
This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.

God does not merely prefer the weak; God chooses them.

Consider the story of Liam Conejo Ramos, a five-year-old boy caught in the machinery of Trump and Vance’s godless immigration deportation raids. No power. No voice. No leverage.

And yet his suffering exposes everything.
God Is Using the Weak To Shame the Strong
The Gospel doesn’t flatter tyrants or excuse cruelty. It names sin, restores shame, and sides with the innocent.
