The Ellisons sure as hell weren’t paying $150 million for a newsletter

For Weiss, it's not enough to get the top CBS job (or the $150M for TFP). She wants to do it with a sneer, to rub the real journalists' noses in it.

She's uninterested in having them follow her lead b/c they're inspired by her leadership. She delights in being able to coerce and dominate them.

Weiss seems not to see the people she's just started working with, many of whom have decades of experience and shelves full of awards, as people at all.

It's reflective of the broader orientation of the far right to the rest of American society -- to them, we're all NPCs.

Finally, I’ll say this. All the theories and ideas and calls for resistance that get posted here? They’ve gone through my mind and my boss’s mind too. But we know intimately what this administration is capable of - how lawless they are willing to be. How far they’re willing to take it.

Very interesting, especially b/c it's a 180-degree pivot from where the GOP was in the 90s/00s (publicly, at least). The Clinton impeachment and the "values voters" who flocked to the party during the GWB years -- remember all the writing on virtue by Bill Bennett? That's all been tossed aside.

He's bizarro Dan Quayle

I hope someone makes a movie like ‘The Insider’ about this — because it’s actually much worse.

The reed of hope I’m hanging onto: when W left office at just over 30% approval and Dems went on to win the next 2 presidential elections, the GOP realized they had to find another way. Even today, the party wants nothing to do with him.

Still TBD. But dragging it out like this sure seems to cement how guilty he really is. (Why else would they delay it like this?)

Exactly! It’s kinda hard to believe we haven’t heard it more — though I guess it shows my age!

I try to cut NPR more slack than say, the NYT because of the position they’re in. It’s a tough spot to be in, especially now.

That's interesting. Do you think the reason is similar to why Harris underperformed outside the swing states last year?
