I feel like the ubiquity with which Doom can be run on anything in its entirety should have become a standard 'starting point' for tech rather than seeing how complex and brittle you can make programs for single use.
DOOM on PC Speaker/Beeper for sound is a vibe all of its own.

The idea that serving in the US military doesn't automatically confer citizenship has always seemed bizarre to me. You offered to die for this country if necessary, and when you're done, it's "get out, you filthy illegal."

I was in high school in 2002 dating a collegiate fencer who was a horse girl. It was rocky from the jump but like a year in I visited her horse, rode it, and then tried to apply my knowledge of horses (the use of cavalry by the Soviets on the Eastern Front) and got dumped six weeks later lol

I'll go further and say that if you report the "Senate data" provision as being about Jack Smith you are actively lying to your readers. it is a bipartisan pro-corruption law that more or less confers immunity from corruption prosecutions on all 100 senators whether they want it or not.
this is being reported elsewhere as a sop to Republican senators angry about being investigated by Jack Smith but the language is honestly so much worse and so much broader than that.
