My inner 12-year-old finds it delightful that someone titled their book about Tarot BIG DECK ENERGY.

A thread that makes an important point. I've run into the same phenomenon, with someone waking from a dream not realizing the dream wasn't, and isn't, reality.
A quick thread about why the image below and its implications terrify me.

My father, for many reasons, was a saint of a man. As he grew older, into his mid 80s, he developed issues separating dreams from reality, especially when waking up from naps.
This guy has the codes to nuclear weapons.

Y'all should follow @glastomichelle.bsky.social, not just for lovely, striking photographic views of their Glastonbury locale, but to encourage them to leave X behind.

Like Hiroshige's One Hundred Famous Views of Edo? You'll likely enjoy one thousand views of Glastonbury Tor and surrounding area.
Liquid Gold sunrise. Photograph taken this morning on Glastonbury Tor.
An unexpected but lovely morning. If anyone follows me on X (@glastomichelle) I have managed to lock myself out and support not helping at the moment. Just to explain my absence over there.

Also, Michael Bishop's BRITTLE INNINGS. Frankenstein's Creature ("Jumbo Hank Clerval") on a mid-1940s minor league baseball team in the American South.

As typical with Bishop's work, goes *way* deeper than the surface plot.

Embrace the Weird.

Make your inner weirdo an outie.
To which I add this wonderful Bruce Sterling passage, which for many years I kept beside my keyboard.

One reason I was never able to read much of David Eddings' BELGARIAD was the plethora of "However"s and "Unfortunately"s that kept kicking my brain out of the story. I kept expecting to see a "Meanwhile, back at the castle..." show up.

Hate when a book makes my fingers itch for a red pencil.
This is a great tip! Just throw in the "importantly" or the "thus" or "however" for the third sentence in a row if it gets the substance going. Just make sure you *do* go back for a thorough edit.
Academic tip: sometimes you have to write "Importantly," to get a sentence started and then you can go back and delete it.

Just listened to "Jinx" a few days ago. Excellent story.

Waiting for the Tylenol to kick in.

Started watching THE OLD MAN a few nights ago. Jeff Bridges gets it, what a grunting, groaning, miserable experience just getting out of bed in the morning can be when you're old.

(Even before the knock-down, drag-out, kill-or-be-killed fighting starts.)

Who can forget that scene in TWELVE HUNGRY MEN when Henry Fonda pulls a Subway footlong from under his coat and tosses it onto the jury room table?

This is the same way he talks about women.
Trump: "We're gonna do things to Nigeria that Nigeria's not gonna be happy about, and may very well go into that now disgraced country guns a-blazing... I'm hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack it will be fast, vicious, and sweet."

Looks like "Hide" is the default set by Bluesky. May explain why it sometimes feels I've missed a skeet or six from some accounts I follow. ( *koff* @rudepundit.bsky.social *koff* ) Or why sometimes it feels people following me aren't seeing all of my own less temperate skeets.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Hilde woke from an odd but enjoyable dream; Regency Romance with baseball.

Baseball came later, but "rounders", similar to baseball, was popular during the Regency period. I toss this idea out for anyone who wants it as a story prompt. (Not something I'd write.)

It's hard to communicate how groundbreaking and impressive Steranko's distinctive and stylish comic work was, back in the day. Hugely influential on those who came afterwards.
James Steranko sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/steran... was born on this day, so here are some of his covers from 1969-1972. The 3rd is his artwork for the cover of Eerie #25:

Yesterday's news cycle was a wild roller coaster.

Cheney death announcement: Oh, fuck, finally.

Sandwich Guy trial: What the fuck?

UPS plane crash: Oh, fuck. Oh, no. Oh, fuck no.

Mamdani wins NYC: Oh, fuck YES!

Bystander videos from Louisville UPS plane crash appear to show tail engine on fire just after takeoff.

Looks like the long crash path & fires were mostly thru industrial area (junkyards, storage lots), so hopefully minimal ground casualties.

(Early hours of reporting; all info may change.)
