Long-time SF/F reader, occasional writer. I live in Arizona with my wife, several housemates, and a small mob of cats.

I strive for posts that are amusing, informative, and/or wise. (The last one's the toughie.)
Family ancestors of Powerhouse, chicken-headed supervillain (ambiguously villainous, mostly because when he first tried to join a superhero group, they all laughed at the guy with the chicken head) from the Savage Dragon comics.

Fuzzbert living dangerously.

(Was I mean enough to turn the faucet on? Reader, I was not. But I was tempted, so very, very tempted....)

I dunno. With some careful application of frosting and piping, you could still present it as a...

Pete Hegseth is just pissed off at the Boy Scouts because he only ever qualified for one merit badge.

You're kidnapped. The characters from the last show you watched are coming to rescue you.

I like my odds.

Did someone say Zombie Donuts?

Quite a change from your usual subject matter.

It made me think of how Kelly Freas did 400 portraits of saints for the Franciscans. (Hard to find examples online, because such an overwhelming amount is Freas' SF work.)

Staying off social media until almost noon meant Getting Some Shit Done, somehow. It's a mystery.

Bacon Bread (w/bacon grease instead of oil or butter, ¼C finely minced bacon, + swap in ½C whole wheat flour).

Clafouti-style peach cake

I've been thinking of Perk as "the little black kitten", but catching her at the right angle in bright sunlight shows she's actually a very dark sable brown.

A side-benefit of repainting the bedroom is the clutter on top of the bookcases got cleaned up.

Baldura, here, appears to be wondering if she should knock off the little Xmas decoration and finish the cleaning job.

The Phoenix Art Museum will be re-opening its renovated North Wing, housing their Art of the Americas + Europe galleries, on November 28th.

@azcentral.com offers some samples of what will be on display:

“I’m you from the future, where your fate is entirely decided by the whims of a few billionaires whom you’ll never meet, so I don’t really have anything to tell you, advice-wise!”

The Stuffed Quesadilla at local chain Caramba's is pretty awesome. (They also feature the two-pound-plus Caramba Giant Burrito, enchilada style, which I've used to provide nearly a week's worth of lunches.)

Intermittent rain here since yesterday, with some short but heavy downpours. And just had our first burst of pea-sized hail. (The small white dots in the pic below; a little hard to see against the ground mulch.)

In The Century Book of Famous Americans (1896), a chapter on Thomas Jefferson used this illustration of a Monticello holiday dinner being served.

A picture showing more than likely intended. In this case, a reminder slaveowner Jefferson worked enslaved children alongside adults.

The long (LONG) delayed bedroom repainting is finally done. Former pale blue walls now a stronger blue, decorative frames & chair rail a brighter white, lower half of walls under frames a sea green.

Where do you think Langwidere got all her heads?

(Head-swapping Langwidere was an off-screen plot element in my Spaghetti-Western Oz story "The Kansas Kid and the Wizard of Dodge" in BLACK CAT WEEKLY.)

Got up way too early to take Blaze (formerly Tully) to the vet* to get his testicles trimmed. Pick him back up later today.
