A monstrous, bolted-together creature speaks with a soldier. SOLDIER: WELL! Aren't YOU looking all hale and vimful! Wait, does that mean bad? I mean bad. You look real bad. CREATURE: I have no idea how I look because I cannot move my neck and I am terrified of mirrors. But I FEEL awful! CREATURE: I got three main problems going on. One: SPLITTING headache. Migraine would be a MERCY. CREATURE: Two: A MAD SCIENTIST of some sort seems to have ASSEMBLED me using cast-off body parts and miscellaneous junkyard finds. I do NOT remember going to bed like this. CREATURE: And three: I SOMEHOW have to explain that there's a new Wondermark card game crowdfunding RIGHT NOW! In which players race to build weird characters like me! SOLDIER (sotto): You're not WEIRD. You're SAD and it makes you FEEL weird CREATURE (indicating a huge sandwich board): But how am I gonna DO it? You can't link out on IG! LENID: Don't you want to look at any others? RINNY: WHY? This one's fine! Good choice! Let's get it and be done! LENID: We JUST GOT here! RINNY: And now we can MINIMIZE our time here to go enjoy the REST of our life! LENID: Just take one walk around. See if there are any other contenders. RINNY (rolling his eyes): Fine Rinny walks among the other trees, dismissing each handily. RINNY: No. No. No. Inferior. Inferior. Inferior... Actually, THIS one's pretty. FAUXPOLEON: I heard — and I don’t know if it’s true — that DOGS are just genetically modified HUMAN INFANTS. Isn’t that OUTRAGEOUS? Who DID that? What ELSE don’t we know about dogs?? E’PAUL: That is not true. FAUXPOLEON: I don’t KNOW if it’s true or not. But just think of what it MEANS! People EXPERIMENTING on BABIES! E’PAUL: Indeed. Good thing it’s not true! FAUXPOLEON: You gotta ADMIT that it’s SCARY to think about! E’PAUL: As a thought experiment? Okay. As a falsehood examined AS a falsehood on its face? Okay. Four panel comic using old newspaper illustrations of dogs as a political parable- a dog on the “Dog Council” proclaims it is anti-bone, but not *really;* it only claims to be so because it’s voters elected it to do so, but states that it’s views will be so extreme no one will agree. Thus, it will maintain a support base w/o actually doing anything harmful. By the end the “strategy” has fully backfired & the dog is doubling down on even worse measures to vote on while they keep getting passed

ABATHA opens the front door to great GLENGIS, who is dressed in a Roman centurion helmet and what appears to be a bird beak mask. He also has huge sideburns/dundrearies but I think those are just his vibe. ABATHA: Hey, it’s Glengis! Glad you could make it to Thanksgiving! GLENGIS: Trick or treat! ABATHA: Go on. GLENGIS: I’m treating our culture’s MADE-UP RITUALS as interchangeable. We’ve inherited an astonishing agreed-upon symbology and it only ever gets put to the SAME OLD USES! It’s like learning the alphabet and then ONLY using it to sing variations on the alphabet song! GLENGIS: So I’m trying to spell NEW WORDS with it all. From now on, I eat turkey on Flag Day, shoot fireworks on Valentine’s Day, and drink green beer for eight WILD AN’ CRAZY nights! ABATHA: Cool. And what about the people you interact with in social settings, who are just going to assume you’re deranged? GLENGIS: Well THEY might end up finding rotten eggs in their stockings come Fourth of July!

This is incredible! BIRD (setting a straw hat jauntily upon his little bird head): Yeah, well, I got fifty thousand more tidbits to tell people before 9PM, so… APRONNI: Is it — JUST you? ALWAYS? There isn’t a little bird corps? You’re THE little bird? BIRD: I used to have a lizard and a raccoon helping me out too, but it muddled the brand. [CUT AWAY TO: A new man, Cuthbert, addresses his coworker] CUTHBERT: ’Morning, Jerbert! A weird raccoon told me your daughter’s about to graduate from kindergarten! HEADLINE: I made this video about a puppet that I also made TEXT: Here is a video of me making a puppet! And then performing a little with that puppet! Some of you may recognize this technique as a callback to another series of puppet videos I made, some years ago. (As demonstrated here) It’s been a fun idea to revisit, and I plan to do it some more. This is, of course, related to my Wondermark-themed card game, Bolted! Which now has final box art:

Like, a BIRD bird? TALKED to you? APRONNI: Yeah. Came to my window last night around eight. Now we see a little pigeon perched on the sill of an open window. Apparently Apronni lives in a barn, or something like a barn? It’s not entirely clear. BIRD: Pssst. Hey buddy. [Apronni enters.] She’s been looking at ski boots on Zappos. Do what you will with this information. Back in the office now, flashback over. JULIORA: Because I’VE seen a little bird too! It let me know when a Zumba class opened up in my area! ENTREBERT (entering with his hands held a pigeon’s width apart): A little bird? About yea big? Knows a lot about when jeans go on sale? Yeah, I’ve seen ‘I’m! A farmer stands in front of a worker who is tending to a fruit tree. The farmer speaks to us, the viewer. FARMER: Halloween has gotten too corporate! Big Candy pushes its sugar-laden garbage as the only sensible choice compared to razor-bladed apples! Another example of big business using its marketing muscle to destroy the small entrepreneur! Well, guess what, Nestle? We only use genuine U.S. steel in our razor blades! Each blade is lovingly tied to an emerging springtime blossom so that the apple grows around the blade seamlessly! Some things are still done by hand! [He takes a bite of the apple, which CRUNCHES.] Ow! Aah!! [Blood is now running down his chin.] Delicious!

JEREDITH: Thank SHOE GARY: Trindy as "Sexy Chess" TRINDY: CheckMATE GARY: Blindora as "Sexy Dynamite" BLINDORA: Bang! Bang! Amberspatch and Bellowton are once again riding different steeds. Amberspatch is on a small hippo. Bellowton is sidesaddle on a very normal quadrupedal giant chicken. They continue their conversation about sports. AMBERSPATCH: I'm interested in your...RITUALS related to sports, so I talked to another fan. HE said the reason your team lost WASN'T related to the socks anyone wore, OR whether he watched on TV or listened to the radio AMBERSPATCH: According to THIS guy, the main factor was the decision to PITCH to the other team's best hitter, rather than walk him; since first base was open, it would have set up the force out for a double play. And doing so after having pulled the starting pitcher in the FIRST place, in favor of a weaker pitcher from the bullpen AMBERSPATCH: Which, in HIS view, points the finger at managerial malpractice. All made WORSE by ownership's lack of willingness to pony up for better hitters from the bottom of the lineup. BELLOWTON: SURE. Insufferable after-the-fact armchair coaches like that are a dime a dozen. AMBERSPATCH: But YOU prefer to focus on wearing the right socks and so on. BELLOWTON: Look, if the bus might be headed off the cliff anyway, I prefer having a toy steering wheel to keep my hands busy
