When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live— forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence— knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which (cont.)

none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death of the victim seems a natural one, since the offence is more one of omission than of commission. But murder it remains. I have now to prove that society in England daily and hourly commits what the working-men’s organs, with perfect correctness, characterise as social murder, that it has placed the workers under conditions in which they can neither retain health nor live long; that it undermines the vital force of these workers gradually, little by little, and so hurries them to the grave before their time. I have further to prove that society knows how injurious such conditions are to the health and the life of the workers, and yet does nothing to improve these conditions. That it knows the consequences of its deeds; that its act is, therefore, not mere manslaughter, but murder, I shall have proved, when I cite official documents, reports of Parliament and of the Government, in substantiation of my charge.

Hot take, but an honest one.
I think Al is going to replace a big part of traditional photography, especially when it comes to family photos and kids.
Not because photographers aren't talented. They are.
But because for moms, convenience matters. A lot.
Getting everyone dressed. Coordinating schedules.
Making sure kids cooperate. Packing snacks. Leaving the house. Spending the money. Waiting for edits.
That's work.
With Al, moms don't have to stage a moment at all. No outfits. No schedules. No pressure. You can snap a quick photo, upload it, and generate what you want when it works for you.
We all know the future is Al unless something massive shifts. It's already here. And I'm personally for Al when it comes to convenience.
Especially for moms who are already doing everything.
That doesn't mean photographers will disappear. There will always be space for in-person, documentary, milestone moments. But for everyday family photos, holiday cards, quick keepsakes, and busy seasons of motherhood, Al is accessible in a way traditional photography often isn't.
And sometimes convenience matters more than tradition.
That's not laziness.
That's survival.

Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.

Im sure there will be no issues there at all.

software development in 2026 is going to require some to loosen up a little
code doesn't have to be as perfectly crafted the way we did it pre-ai
call it slop if you want, but if you're still demanding perfection on every pr while your competitors are shipping "slop" that works.. you're fighting from a disadvantaged position
shipping velocity matters more than perfection

got one sheol win with the lost in isaac and am now working on running the broken shovel, which is essentially a speedrun. it is pretty incredible how many neat little things you can do in this game
