guys!
These versions aren’t actually as good as I’d hoped though they have their charms and oddly my favorite one musically is one of the worst tracks on the original album, possibly because it’s the most different

Tonight’s oldies act was a couple decades less old: Marshall Crenshaw, who mixed it up more than the 60s acts with a whole lot of deep cuts and versions that didn’t attempt to be note for note from the original recordings

I hope it's another prequel where she's even younger but also taller

The Intuitionist (C. Whitehead 1999)
My god…it worked…every ride is coming back to me now…in a flood of memories…overwhelming my senses…some going up, some going down…some smelling like piss, some smelling less like piss…

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

I always knew Bob Dylan but this is the compilation that woke me up to the depths of his catalog

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

You couldn't set Stranger Things in the present day because then there would be a lot of really awkward scenes with the kids pretending they haven't listened to West End Girl

It’s me. I’m white millennial women.
To all the white millennial women recently let down by Taylor Swift:
May I suggest Lily Allen? Her latest album “West End Girl” is absolutely stupendous

Bob Dylan accepted an honorary degree from Berklee and this is such a classic, Dylanesque backhanded compliment www.boston.com/news/local-n...

And now comes the fun part! (setting my Daily Show Slack profile back to active)
Just wrapped on The Big Kill. Over 24 days what started as an incredibly personal project became a collaborative one, and all the better for it. Can’t wait till I can tell you more but for now enjoy these no context pics from director @thetoddberger.bsky.social

I also hate unagreed-to embargoed pitches so amplifying the big secret news that a beverage brand you've never heard of is introducing a flavor that sounds disgusting
you just can't be sending embargoed PR pitches to my email that I didn't agree to. I have no incentive to abide the embargo. Therefore I will break news a day early that Halfday, the better-for-you iced tea brand, is releasing a limited-edition Cranberry flavor just in time for the holiday season

Ok I’ll come back to NYC

For the last few days I have been inundated with anti-Mamdani spam texts. I can’t imagine this is a good use of money, even if they don’t all go to people who, like me, cast their for Mamdani two weeks ago
A lot has been said about how NYC's robust public financing for campaigns gave Mamdani's campaign fuel - I'd also add that knowing from day 1 exactly how much money they'd have to spend allowed for more strategic planning, better operations, and no stupid spending at the end.

The text here gets at something crucial about the photos: at first glance through today's eyes these register as apocalyptic images of danger, but if you actually look they're just people going about their day, having a fine ol' time
