I remember the phrase "they can't be allowed to melt back into society" re: the de-Baathification of Iraq after the war there. Like everything about that experience, the attempt was cynical, stupid, and botched. But there really should be a plan about what we do with guys like these in the future.

it's reasonably plausible that they could happen to be at an event together, that he viewed more as a chance to talk to sergey brin or whatever, but isn't that the kind of thing that should compel a bit of reflection with hindisght?
One small way to try to re-establish social trust would be to transparently disclose *in this very column* that you hung out with Jeffrey Epstein.
