the only way it was able to do this is because, as everyone including elon and sam altman have known for years, the datasets for these AIs contain a lot of CSAM

the fact that what just happened doesn't shut down twitter and have elon et al tried in court for allowing is fucking insane
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

In Saint Paul, Maverick’s Pizza is one of our favorites. (maverickspizza.com) Tonight we got a pie and they had changed something, maybe in the sauce, that gave it a great spicy bite, like adding red pepper flakes does. Between that and the Parmesan in the cheese, it’s better than ever! GET U SUM!

I'm really struck by his reference to "...those who chose participation over despair."

The opposite of despair isn't hope. The opposite of despair is participation. I always say despair isn't a luxury, it's an emotion. It just is.

But is it costly to hang onto. Because it's the opposite of doing.

If you live in a car dependent community & are or become unable to drive, you are likely to be isolated, forced into dependence on unaccountable others (which, as well as forcing you to fit travel around their lives, also makes you more vulnerable to abuse) or forced out of your community entirely.
You didn't say that in as many words. I admit misinterpreting because I'm toggling to a different "fuck rural America" tab of skeets. However, you are talking about "reducing car dependency", which will inevitably infringe on the right to travel. Congestion pricing on public roads is exactly that.

Thing about the fibrinolytic system is it’s a pretty delicate balance. I learned this in my mid 40s eating too much aspirin. Also, the evidence of cardiovascular benefits from even low dose aspirin is far more equivocal than most folks realize. See, e.g. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35570250/
Benefits and Risks Associated with Low-Dose Aspirin Use for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Control Trials and Trial Sequential Analysis - PubMed
The current study demonstrated that the cardiovascular benefits of low-dose aspirin were equally balanced by major bleeding events. In addition, the potential beneficial effects might be seen in the population ≤ 70 years of age with high cardiovascular risk and no increased risk of bleeding.

Shared values are of course important but even more than that, i think, is a shared sense of reality. When one political movement has abandoned any adherence to truth or scientific fact in pursuit of power at all costs, there is just no possibility of finding common ground on which to build anything

I'm in a hospital waiting room in Taiwan. They have mandatory universal masking in the hospital. Compliance is 100%. No one is complaining.
Why are western countries so weird about masking to avoid spreading diseases?
No wonder hospital-acquired illnesses are so high in the USA.
