Another fantastic playtest with some very smart people at Game Kastle in College Park 🎪
One of the interesting things this time around is just how hollow the whole thing sounds. In the past, people have been able to use the empty concept of electability to anoint and position the person they demanded, but now that Republicans are getting obliterated everywhere, that doesn't work.
If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.
look if you want to freak out about people not voting newsom if he's the nominee a week before the 2028 general election, I kinda get it (but don't say you weren't warned). doing it now though is just a weird attempt to strong arm people into supporting him in the primary.

1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

As NHL Pride Nights Become Less Consistent, the Washington Capitals Keep Celebrating - Washingtonian
Last month, as Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” and Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out” blasted throughout Capital One Arena and players took warmups with hockey sticks wrapped in rainbow-colored Pride…

DC statehood yesterday
Congressional Republicans are going to deprive D.C. of $700 million in revenue and repeal a local program projected to reduce child poverty by 20 percent, solely to spite District residents and make us suffer. They’re also throwing our tax filing into utter chaos. This is a disaster.

The thing Chris is saying, which I could spend time imagining in the same way that I can spend time imagining any number of hypothetical world-shattering occurrences, is completely distinct from deciding whether or not to bother saying it. They call it the poster's affliction.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

This line of reasoning is stupid because we also don't want Amazon Prime Deportation that doesn't do those things.
SWALWELL: You said you wanted to see a deportation process that was 'like Amazon Prime but with human beings.' How many times has Amazon Prime shot a mom 3 times in the face?

LYONS: None

SWALWELL: How many times has Amazon Prime shot a nurse 10 times in the back?

so much for the ✌️”new tone”✌️
