When I was 16, a deputy told my friend and me that he was going to have us raped in jail for the crime of sitting in a park after sundown. The desk sergeant refused to even take a complaint the next day. Don't tell me cops being unaccountable sadists is an invention of the Trump administration.

The elephant in the room is that mayors and governors across the country have very good reason to question the loyalty and allegiances of the state and local police forces and that’s one of the impediments to doing anything about the current occupations

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.
