5 years ago today Dolal Idd was killed by Minneapolis Police during a gun buy sting operation. Body camera video appeared to show glass shattering outwards from window with MPD returning fire. The killing occurred 7 months after and 1 mile away from where George Floyd was killed.

I’ve had 3 people wish me a “more social 2026”.

All of them were wildly ill.

One was hospitalized with pneumonia.

That’s the cost of their “socialization” because they refuse to take the most basic precautions.

They make the world less safe for people like me & then judge me for staying home

My mother died of Covid complications this year. She not only refused to believe Covid was ‘that serious’ she also refused to mask when people visited her at our home in India.
Anyone anywhere who wants to mock people who mask can fuck all the way off.
Jon Stewart and the pod saves guys mocking people who wear masks while talking about What Is To Be Done is exactly what Jon Stewart and the pod saves guys are, it's the most Jon Stewart and pod saves guys thing possible.

You don't need to take my word for it. You can simply ask yourself what you would expect to see from an opposition party that was serious about abolishing ICE right now. Are you seeing these things from the Democratic party or from its voters?

ICE is a domestic terrorist organization
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Important context here: when Peter Thiel and David Sacks began their war on diversity as undergrads at Stanford, thirty years ago, the very first tactic they adopted was to normalize slurs that had already been stigmatized out of mainstream society. This return of these hateful terms was a key goal.
“It turns out that banishing the slur from public discourse was, in fact, important. Because now it’s back and it turns out that it does matter when subtext becomes actual text, when terrible people enable open hatred and bigotry, encouraging others to emulate them, degrading us all.”
Perry: The return of the r-word
"These days, the r-word slur has become a staple of the American right wing, uttered with few professional or social consequences," David M. Perry writes.

Remember how I said I have it written into my foreign-language contracts that my work has to be translated by an actual human? This shit is why.

Those book translations are gonna suck. They'll save money putting out books that are going to be painful to read. That's not a great long-term strategy.
French publishing house Harlequin decided to use AI translation instead of human translations.

All their freelance translators (some of whom had been working with Harlequin for +30y!!!) were told they would no longer receive work from Harlequin
