1st of December delivers reminders of past Christmas memes on other social media platforms.

"I never truly feel the Christmas spirit until I see the 'Tony Blair being held back from attacking you in the pub' card."

I knew in my heart that this specific style of glasses would look really cute on Briar and I was 100% right.
@shellcollector.bsky.social bought me glasses from one of those cheap glasses online websites and now I look like I’m from a different 20s

if it seems a bit strange to you that an ostensibly ‘feminist’ organisation should be campaigning against free period products, I’d invite you to consider where said organisation is getting its funding and whose views it’s set up to promote
I guess when you're rich you can't comprehend people having no money, much feminism from Maya as usual. They are willing to see organisations that actually help people shut down if they don't follow their weird little ideology, but yeah, she's a "women's rights campaigner"

its coverage doesn't seem to be great for all of your mental health. Whether it's productive in any sense is another question but I feel really confident about the your-mental-health thing.

@flameswallower.bsky.social and I agreed that there's like, 0 chance they didn't CGI way more footage of the scarecrow; they must have kept it to the absolute minimum because the footage was overwhelmingly either terrifying or comical, possibly both.
As an addendum, having seen the last few scenes of the film: there is not enough lube in the world to deal with that whole burlap situation.

Briar thinks it's very funny that I'm so angry about this but I personally believe it is completely fucked up to sing an entire self-pitying song about how your good deeds all backfire when you fucking LEFT YOUR BOYFRIEND TO BE TORTURED AND KILLED even though you have magical powers and he doesn't

Briar and I have been (independently) doing this for a while - specifically, my own view is that like radium genAI is not by any means a useless or "inherently bad" Thing, it's just.... not something you want in your toothpaste, and we're currently v much in the 'radium in toothpaste' era.
Speaking of things that were trendy despite being basically poison and got shoehorned in where they were unwanted and unneeded during the 20's, one of my local friends has begun referring to genAI as "radium"

FYI the Stanford Prison Experiment is widely discredited. You can't just cite it as incontrovertible evidence that people are on the verge of committing atrocities at all times.

We need an extra-long episode that's just an audiobook of Michael and Peter reading paragraphs of this book to each other.
I was gonna do the entire book on the podcast but I'm sorry, I don't think I can do it.

Also, I know this is petty but I cannot get over the insulting laziness of the book cover
