always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

The French duo is ice dancing to Blue by Eiffel 65, transitioning into Daft Punk. We're going to live forever.
They're doing pairs figure skating to an Offspring compilation, yet another Millennial cultural victory.

Whole thread but especially this.

My view from Minneapolis is that I'm surrounded by acts and messages of solidarity, support, and defiance, and some of them make me cringe but THAT'S OKAY, it's not all FOR me.

It all adds up. There is power in the accumulation of signs, gestures and assistance.
You don't know what else someone who's wearing a red knitted cap is doing, and they prob shouldn't announce all the things they are doing — nor do we want the fash to be able to identify who is and isn't doing heavy resistance work by virtue of a hat. Let symbols be popular.

We’ve paid rent for over 270 households so far in February and we currently have a waitlist that totals over $30,000.

We distributed rents one by one.
We can’t even think about March rent yet.

Just finished @ravineangel.bsky.social’s Persona. An extremely rough read that I’m glad I stuck with because once it gets its hooks in you there is this amazing tenderness to it you wouldn’t believe. Challenging, but an immensely worthy reminder that in spite of everything, we have to keep living.

There's a Toni Morrison quote I reference a lot: "We cannot be optimistic, but we can be clear." A problem I have with many historical parallels is they are inherently fatalistic and often obscure possibilities for redirection
