My holiday gift to you is that you don't have to sign up or make an account on any new app anymore if you don't want to. You don't have to do it. You don't need to use that thing. You have enough accounts. Enough logins. You don't need a new app on your phone, don't worry, you don't have to do it.

I'm going to tell my favorite story again about reflecting the certainty of beliefs back at people who don't expect it.

A friend was one of the few Jews on faculty at a North Dakota University. Every year, his colleague in religious studies would invite him to come to his religious studies class...

I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.
!! Here’s a link to full video of the 60 Minutes segment that Bari Weiss killed last minute, via @jasonparis.bsky.social:

A billion dollars is the socio-economic equivalent of a loose nuke, and we should work to prevent the acquisition of the former with the same urgency and ruthlessness we use to prevent the acquisition of the latter.
This is obscene. Why can't other politicians say that?

I've been following this story to see where it gets pick up and so far only The Prospect and Bloomberg and Law360 have given this any play at all. Both the facts alleged in the FTC claim and the fact that Trump dropped this case should be huge front page stories.

From me: Trump's FTC dismissed a Lina Khan case against Pepsi and Walmart scheming to raise prices on competitors, then claimed it was "purely political" with no evidence. But advocates got the now-defunct case unsealed, & it reveals how pricing really works in America.

Tyson is shutting down its Lexington, Nebraska plant in January 2026. That’s 3,200 workers gone in one shot, the largest plant shutdown in company history.

Blame Trump’s tariff chaos and the lowest cattle inventories in decades. Tariffs jack up costs. Supply shrinks. Plants close. Towns hollow out.
